Dear friends,

Now that we are back, let's start with something interesting. Rev Grumpus Rumpus has been telling me to visit this gentleman who is right there in my neighbourhood and stores some exceedingly interesting guns.I finally managed to meet him after charging up and down a few Warwickshire Hills on a nice English summer noon.It was well worth the effort.

This is a .45 ACP DeLile carbine. Based on a modified Enfield action,a Thompson sub-machine gun barrel and fully silenced. Accurate,a very personal measure I think, upto 250 yards. It is believed to be so silent that the operation of the bolt is louder than the gun fire.Used by British commandos in WW-II.Only a very few originals are said to be in museums. This is a reproduction.
For more info, please check this site

The next is a .50 BMG made by AMSD of Switzerland

http://amsd.ch/products/products.html

He says that it has slightly more recoil than a .308 and one can shoot it for all the day.In his opinion, this is much better rifle than a Steyr or a Barrett. The muzzle break is said to reduce recoil by almost 68%.

The following are not semi-auto rifles. They are straight pull bolt action rifles based on the military versions.

Beautiful. I love that you can see powder flasks in so many of the pictures- he certainly has a lot of those. Did you get an invitation to try any out? The DeLisle is fascinating.

Hey Vikram,

I'm more than envious.

Obviously you had a great time there.

The straight pull AUG is a beauty. Not too expensive too.... if my price index is up to date. If imports ever opened, I'd get this in first. :) ....also interesting to see a trilux on an AUG

Presumably the MP5 PDW clone is a pimped up GSG-5?

BJL... the DeLisle is an evergreen silent job. The advantage is with standard 45ACP fodder, you are dealing with subsonic rounds most of the time so no sonic crack....its velocity is bled off even more with a carefully perforated barrel inside the can.

regards,
cc

Great Vikram recognize one of the long barrel Browning Buckmark. Is it legal to own all those kind of semi autos in UK. Especially that commando .45 gun?

Navi,

Looks like you were speed reading. They are not Semi-autos,except the MP-5 clone which is a .22,but straight pull bolt action rifles! The DeLisle .45 carbine is a magazine fed weapon that uses a modified Enfield bolt action.

I would like to think it was a good outing except for the miles and miles of trudging about blindly.LOL.Or I could have spend a few hours in the shop and explore the guns a bit more leisurely.

The gentleman in question is probably the biggest black-powder dealer in UK.That explains the number of powder flasks in the background.

Glad you gents liked it. It was a nice tidy little shop tucked underground. You would not notice unless you seek it particularly and with prior appointment. You cannot believe the amount of stock he has.The best source for anything black-powder related in UK.Somehow,he shirks advertisement and publicity.Operates more by reputation and looking at his scale, not doing bad at all.
