Indoor Shooting Range Pics

After my acquisition of a big bore pistol I am interested in building a private indoor shooting gallery in my basement floor. I would appreciate if some members could post some photos of the Target Retrieval machine so that I could try to 'fabricate' one for my personal use. Please note I am talking about a bigbore pistol and not the airgun wire type target machines.

I am thinking about the overhead 'rails' type machines.. Detailed design specs or photos would be much appreciated.

Design criteria for indoor bullet trap

Scroll down to "facility management"
a bunch of range related articles there

The biggest problem with a basement/indoor range is air filtration. You definitely do not want all that lead circulating in your system. You'll probably also have space constraints- so designing a bullet trap that doesn't take up too much space would be needed too.

How big is your basement? What's the sound insulation like? What's the ventilation like? How close do your neighbors live to you?

Hullo BJL,
Thanks for the links but, I have been through them and have a decent 'knowhow' about them. What I need are photos of actual rails and runners etc.. Just hoping I guess..

Jonah just how big is your basement?

BTW the easiest way to build a backstop would be piling two layers of bori's filled with sand. Will give you about 40 odd inches of sand... and should be adequate to stop almost any handgun caliber.

Hello MOA, Backstop etc.. is not much of a problem! I have approx 40'x14' of basement area that I am trying to convert to a 4 lane pistol range. I need photos of actual overhead rails, runners, etc.. Have contacted an Indian manufacturer of stepper motors etc. for the motorised pulleys and controls etc.. and think I have something here. I need photos of rails, runners, pulley systems (either chain or cable) etc.. so that I can fabricate them myself! Have a basic idea, but need photos to confirm.

Thanks anyway!
