The Mumbai blast have had their effect on far of Ishapur, Kolkatta. Heard that all dispatches to the dealers from the factory our held up as according to some new instructions no goods can be dispatched by IOF till they are accompanied by commandos from the factory to the air port...and commandos are hard to find....

no wonder that commandoes are not available as many of them are stuck up with politicians

Again good time for Dealers,,it will create shortage and price hike.

i wonder if any outlaws these days,be it terrorists or maos,would be interested in civilian firearms they have the better ones

Or maybe, Penpusher, it's a way to control guns psychologically; they make the stuff repulsive intentionally so that people abhor the very sight of it and restrain themselves from buying one. Ok, 75K is a high price, but imagine a Colt Python .357 Magnum at that price; hell, I would beg, borrow or steal to get one.

Colt Python's aren't made anymore. They are only available thru rare custom orders and that would be way beyond 75k.

Guys, try thinking figuratively sometimes and not literally.

Colt Python .357 in US (in 2, 4 or 6" barrels) are readily available for around $1000, sometime less and sometimes more. Might go $2000 for one ported with nightsights, unusually engraved or untouched by human hands (important to collectors).

For carry guns, I think they're pointless, based on weight and inconvenience. Ammo has improved greatly, and a .32 calibre hollowpoint will open to the same diameter as the old hardball .45s. There are "big bore" guys who disagree, but the .32 in your pocket is better than the .357 in your nightstand. My wife's. 32 Keltec weighs only 6 ounces unloaded. But it is always loaded, and always with her.

You guys sound just like American gun guys. It is good to read this board.

A basic .357 gun sells in India for anywhere around $10K and bullet is $7 a pop...

I am not sure if hollow points are allowed in India but other informed members can chip in.

i don't what the fuss is about, for one all the laws ever made did is to keep the law abiding citizens under control.

for two: politicians are not interested in your welfare until election time.

for three: fool proof security only fools the fools and not professionals.

for four: if one wants to get hold of a firearms illegally one can (not that one should)

for five: less control the citizens have over arms the more control the criminals have(take your pick who i mean the politicians or deco its er is there any different?)

eight: oh ya which firearms make the best defense weapon? the one handy at the time of the attack and goes bang.

I have two Keltec .32s ( OK, one is my wife's) and a Beretta Tomcat .32 as well(plus other handguns).

It is important to remember what the gun is for. It is a "carry" or backup gun. 40 states in the US allow concealed carry and some states (including mine) allow car concealed guns with no licensing. Military or law enforcement (or situations in Northern states where you can meet dangerous animals while birdhunting) which do not involve concealment have different requirements, as do house guns.

But for it's intended purpose, it is dead solid perfect. After a "break in" of about 200 rounds, my two guns are totally reliable. They are about the size of a deck of cards and with custom holster will fit invisibly into any pocket or purse. Good shooters get 2" groups at 7 yards with them. My memory is that with Winchester Silvertip hollow-points or Cor-bon, they get 80% one-shot stopping results,but since you only use a CC gun if in fear of serious bodily harm, there's no reason to stop at one shot. But nobody wants to get shot, so just having one is a great deterrent under many circumstances. Keltec does make a .380, but the recoil is fierce. The .32 is easy to shoot, even for a small woman.

The "big bore" guys forget what these guns are for. An open-choked 6# bird gun won't do well on a difficult sporting clays course. That's not what it's for. I have more powerful handguns. So do almost all US gun guys. They stay at home. And a Keltec .32 costs about $250 at most local gunshops.
