This pic came in todays newspapers. From the recent Mumbai attacks on Taj.

He appears to carry a double magazine AK, A Pistol (does not look like a Glock or a 92F), American style helmet over a turned around baseball type hat and sports shoes (in a hurry maybe ?). Could this guy be Army SF ?

You have a point there. One more security lapse added to thousands that have already happened. If he is what I think he is, we have something to worry about.

The guy facing the camera , talking on the phone has also sports shoes on and no helmet !! The helmet worn by the guy in question looks fancy, is that a standard issue to elite forces? Wearing a reversed peak cap in camo under the helmet is also something unusual for army or is it not ?

That was one of the first things that I noticed. I have never seen this type of bootcut trousers worn by any armed force personnel. Also the camo pattern is slightly different than the usual camo stuff one sees.

Have you seen something in the photo that I have not ? He could be army...but they were carrying INSAS not AK...He could be an Army officer, hence the Pistol, but it does not appear to be a 92F. That helmet...was sported by security personnel guarding new red coloured train sets now used in Kashmir on the new railway line.

I hope these Peru warriors dont have a weak bladder..
Regarding Mumbai there were bunch of Marcos involved who were in regular army fatigues.
Cheers

Look at the size of those crotch guards! They can fight with weak bladders! It ain't gonna make any difference to them! It probably even has a quick nature call system built in!

Probably MARCOS.... Saw a lot of them wearing PASGT helmets. Also the sloppiness points towards MARCOS

You can never have too much protection there, the more the better.
As for the sneakers, I think he was planning to 'SNEAK' up on the bad guys.
Jokes apart, this is really the kind of protection that special forces should use. Heck these guys even have protection on their hands, only the fingers are left unprotected to allow for freedom of movement.

Thats your regular Mumbai police constable turned commando who is running around in sports shoes.
Leave alone Special Forces, you will never find a OR,NCO,JCO or Officer from any arm or service of the Indian Army in track shoes especially when in active ops.

Sanjay : He is not Mumbai Police, they can be seen in the background. The guy on the phone is Mumbai Police. Mumbai police, even the Anti-Ter dont carry their sidearms so professionally. They carry them mostly cross draw. Look at those chaps in the background in the left of the pic and their holsters.
Nagarfile : Thats very, very likely. SF operators do prefer sneakers coz they are nearly noiseless as compared to regular issue shoes.
OverUnderPump : What you say is true but in this case they rushed. There was no or very little time for preparation.
cottage cheese : Where did you see a sloppy MARCO before ? No intention to start a flame war here but I'd rather call NSG sloppy (Akshardham, but may be they have learnt their lessons). The real sloppy guys are our politicians. MARCO's are trained to fight on SEA, AIR and LAND. The first two MARCO's were trained by US Navy SEALs and they stood 1st and 3rd in that course. Thats the standards they have set themselves. Accepted, anti-ter may not be their speciality (may be it is coz they dont go adverising their skills) but they are as good if not better than SFF and Army SF. And they are trained in CQB and storming because one of their jobs is "sanitizing" oil rigs.
Personally I thought the guy in the Photo was Army SF....May be he is a MARCO, unlikely to be NSG, most of them carried MP5s but I am still guessing.
