MOD tender for sniper rifles.

MOD has issued a tender for procuring new sniper rifles and the requirements that the rifles are supposed to meet are not very clear to me. For eg the calibre mentioned is very vague and couldn't find anything much related to it, it's supposedly a bolt action rifle and should be able to fire "100 rounds" which is another thing i don't understand. I have attached the newspaper clipping, please go through it.

Yes, this does seem a bit vague.

The most likely cartridge that they may be referring to is 338 Lapua Magnum also called 8.6x70 mm. Possibly they may be talking about 338-378 Weatherby Magnum, another long range cartridge, but 338 Lapua is fairly well accepted as a sniper round.

There's no hint regarding the rifle, though, that I could pick up on, and I agree with you: a 100 round capability is a puzzling statement to me, as well.

Hopefully, some more details will be available.
