UP govt has started identifying those who vandalised property during CAA protests
Rampur admin has sent notices to 28 people over destruction of properties
Meerut admin has sent notices to 517 arms license-holders

Days after Yogi Adityanath said those who vandalised public property during the violent protests against the Citizenship Act will pay for the losses, the Rampur administration has started identifying the vandals and has sent notices to 28 people. Notices have also been issued to 517 arms license-holders in Meerut.

Kanpur DM Aunjaneya Kumar Singh has said, "Those who were involved in destruction of public property on December 21 have been identified through CCTV footage and their names have been sent to the police. Assessment of damage has been done and notices have been issued to 28 people who have been identified. Further action will be taken."

The Rampur administration has issued notices to 28 people "identified for violence" during last week's anti-citizenship law protests, asking them to explain their position or pay for damage caused to public and private property, officials said on Wednesday.

According to PTI, the notices were issued on Tuesday after damage of nearly Rs 25 lakh was assessed across the district by the police and the administration, they said. Police had initially said that the damage incurred was worth around Rs 15 lakh but the final assessment put the figure at Rs 25 lakh, they added.

Meanwhile, Meerut DM Anil Dhingra said, "Notices have been issued to 517 arms license-holders and 148 people named in FIR to compensate damage caused during protest. Also, 400 arms licenses among these 517 that were pending for renewal have been put on hold for now."

From the last paragraph, it looks like that anytime anything happens, licensees will suffer, irrespective of their involvement or not. Pasting the lines below:

Meanwhile, Meerut DM Anil Dhingra said, "Notices have been issued to 517 arms license-holders and 148 people named in FIR to compensate damage caused during protest. Also, 400 arms licenses among these 517 that were pending for renewal have been put on hold for now."
