Is that who Murphy's law was named after?
... or is it a demonstration of Darwinian Natural Selection in action?

The photograph looks fake to me. Even with a bullet proof vest, hit of a bullet will cause some reaction.

Re: Bullet Proof Vest Testing!!!
Ms. Annie Oakley, of "Annie Get Your Gun" fame, used to shoot the lighted cigar ends out of the mouths of men who were foolhardy enough to stand in front of her, smoking cigars. This was part of her repertoire in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. The German Crown Prince, later the Emperor Frederick, acted as the "target" in one of her shows. I believe she used a lever action Winchester, perhaps a Model 1873, to perform her feats. The rifle and the rifle-woman both had to be dead accurate or the "victim" would have been dead.

Nevertheless, Murphy must have been quite a man to smilingly absorb the impact of .38 bullets, A lesser man might have been paralyzed by the thought of being shot and felled by the impact of the bullet.
