Looks good....... on paper, but so did the INSAS! Why does a CQM weapon require a bayonet lug? Or don't our designers know that the era of bayonet charges under waving banners are long gone?

They must have thought of everything, including a bayonet for a smg...

Not true actually. Maybe for US army. Bayonets and hand to hand combat were used in Kargil.

Sir, the aim of an smg is compact firepower.Above is the carbine version.After all that trouble, why put a bayonet on and go backwards?

Better weapons do not guarantee that close in fighting will not be needed. Soldiers who are asked to take a particular point/machine gun post/bunker or soldiers on long patrols who get ambushed can carry only a limited amount of ammunition - maybe 3 or 4 magazines. In a firefight if that is expended and there is no option of resupply it is back to bayonets.

Unfortunately too many Discovery and NatGeo programs of newer and better guns make it seem like bayonets and Khukris are "backward movement" - which is nonsense. Soldiers still train to use bayonets.

A combat knife is better handled than a bayonet.

In close quarters, you can handle the knife with one hand and have an empty hand to use.A bayonet on this smg will be quite useless if you have both hands on the gun and he is inside your guard.Moreover, you will be using both hands plus moving a lot of mass.No, a combat knife is much better for close quarters.A bayonet on a long gun is a different issue.

Rethink your statement, i am sure you will find lots of advantages of using a bayonet, both on a rifle and in your hands

I did not say a bayonet is disadvantageous I said one on the smg pictured above is cumbersome and a knife/bayonet used by hand would be more easy to control and manipulate.

Nothing against bayonets, just one on this smg.

This was the early trial version of MSMC. Same Cal. as of INSAS. Based on Mini UZI platform it was developed.
