Meet my family (Smith & Wesson, Brno, Winchester) Brno added
Hi Friends,
After thinking about doing this many times over I believe it is time now to introduce you to my family. As is the tradition I will begin with the youngest member which is a Smith & Wesson Model 17-3. This gun feels right at home in the family punching holes in 1.5" at 50 yards which is the minimum level of performance guaranteed by Smith & Wesson.
Connoisseurs and Smith & Wesson collectors will note that it is a pinned and recessed gun with target trigger and target hammer. The model 17 has always been the top of line as far as .22 revolvers are concerned and much as I am aware there are only 2 other guns from Smith in .22 LR which command a higher value.
The gun shoots just as well as it looks (the bore is pristine) and I hope to post some groupings as well.
I hope you enjoy meeting Mr. Smith.
(Mods - There will be some rifles coming up next. Please move this post if this is not the relevant section.

I'm relieved it passes your fine scrutiny mate. Wanted to know what a fine revolver connoisseur like you has to say about it...TC wrote:Ah ha !!.... so this is the one !!

The cylinders on this one time like a swiss clock, all 6 of them. I must admit the bolt is a tiny bit little early though, which is not unusual for Smiths.

Glad you like it mate and thanks for reminding not to dry fire. I bet you must have noticed the trigger finger is safely kept away from the trigger.ngrewal wrote:Congrats on this great looking rarity in some parts of the world...just never dry fire it looking forward to your other collections
In fact I was searching for snap caps but they are not easy to come by and I guess I will have to mail order some...

Beautiful. You bought this in India? Or you live abroad?

Bowman, one look at it and I knew it would pass all tests with flying colours. So I did not even have to go for the kind of scrutiny I usually doBowMan wrote:I'm relieved it passes your fine scrutiny mate. The business end of the cylinder tell the whole story that we discussed over PM.
In case snap caps are difficult to obtain right now just take out the projectiles from some CCI ammo and use the cases for dry fire. But you will have to keep rotating them so that the hammer doesn't keep hitting the same spot on the rim. This is of course a temporary solution because you will have to throw them away after six or seven sessions. The first one of course will produce some smoke
One advice : Change your avatar now. But then the name Bowman has to be changed too How about mr smith ?
Cheers
