air india not gun friendly !

Post by Ace_doc » Wed Sep 26, 2012 10:24 pm

i have been traveling many times by air / road with my weapon in tow. the experience was never pleasant but neither was it too bad considering the general apathy regarding weapons in the country. but now travel of gun owners by air is going to be even tougher with the new air india rules. they have instituted a separate "arms and munitions "handling charge . the cost of the same a mild 5k per trip.
just a heads up.

They have had it for some time. With all the losses they are making, they are trying to squeeze every possible rupee from the passengers.

I used Air India on a domestic sector earlier this year. They didn't charge me an extra dime!!! Their take on it was, if it is .177 cal airgun, it is for sports so no extra charge. For firearms if you can show a competition that you are traveling for, again no extra charge. Compared to the private fellows they are still relatively decent about such items.
