Want to shoot guns in Delhi.

Post by donkanonji » Thu Jan 13, 2011 2:20 pm

Hi everyone,

To put this in perspective, I've never owned a gun nor known anyone who had one and have never fired a firearm in my life. But I just want to experience what firing a (hand)gun feels like. But in a safe environment, and under professional guidance so that chances of harm to myself and others is minimal.

So I was wondering if Delhi has any firing ranges that rent guns (and sell the corresponding ammo) for say an hour or so, or something like that?

I googled "Delhi firing range" and this forum came up, and from the posts I browsed through, you guys seem like a nice, helpful bunch of people. So I thought I'd post here.

Thanks in advance for all your help! :)

EDIT: Added more info.

Thanks for your response Subhash.

So, how and where can I get this safety course? Also, any idea how much it will cost?

Welcome to the forum donkanonji.

I understand your curiosity. The easiest way to fire a handgun in Delhi is to find someone you know who will let you shoot, under supervision, following all rules of gun safety. Karni Singh range will not let you shoot without a license

If you do not know anybody, I suggest you try to meet up with the Delhi IFG branch. They go out for meets at times where they shoot privately. PM Abhijeet (id mundaire) who will guide you when the next get together is going to be.

You don't necessarily need a safety course if you just want to TRY shooting. But, you certainly need to shoot under supervision of an experienced follower of gun safety rules to prevent an accident.

As it is, safety courses are few and far between. Of course, if you find one in Delhi go for it. Maybe subhashghole can guide us both on such courses in Delhi

Exactly. Thanks a lot hamiclar01! That was very informative. I doubt I'll be shooting anytime soon. But I'll most likely PM Abhijeet when I do want to.

Thanks again! :)
