recently came across this. will appeal to anyone who has seen Michael Moore's "Bowling for Columbine"

Michael Moore is an idiot. That is my personal opinion but does make entertaining informercials. He does take a grain of salt, and build a mountain range from it.

I have seen it 4 times. There was a discussion in this forum (one of my very early posts) and the other gentleman has also posted links to the two columbine 'critiques'.

One of them being Michael Moore hates america.

I will search the topic and post it here.

Though he is considered an idiot by the republicans and he is a movie maker, not everything he says is a lie.

I try not to view things or people in black and white.

I will take it a bit further and say that he is a dangerous idiot because some people actually believe everything he says.

When a news reporter or anyone reporting on current events, lies; everything he says is then suspect. Especially when he knows that what he is saying is not the whole truth.

Shooter, if he has to make his point by deliberately distorting the truth, then everything he says is suspect. Life is too short to waste time on people whose opinions are grounded in falsehood.

If he was voicing his opinions, it would have been a different matter. Instead, he parades his film the fact and claims to tell the truth. This makes him dishonest as a journalist. The question of black and white does not arise.

By the way, I am curious. Why did you see it 4 times? It's entertaining, but not exactly "Sholay"

I do understand that MIichael Moore does take liberties and sometimes deliberately gets provocative.Despite that I like his works and what he is trying to say. I certainly do not agree with a few of things he says or depicts in this film.

I generally find that folks who advocate for a particular political point of view are more anxious to advance their political cause than they are to advocate for the truth, however that may impact the "spin" they are trying to sell.

I have seen things that Moore has done that I agreed with, and other things that I didn't agree with.

One thing you can guarantee is that, if someone is telling you something, there's a reason for it and it behooves one to question their motives.

There has long been an advocacy against gun ownership in the USA and it does play fast and loose with the truth. However, at times, the NRA shoots itself in the foot, as well. I do remember seeing Charlton Heston on a talk show after Columbine saying that, if an armed guard had been present, the tragedy wouldn't have happened. This was most unfortunate, and it was clear the famous star was already suffering from the sad illness that afflicted him. He should not have been allowed to be the point man for gun rights, despite his earlier good services to RKBA in the USA.
