BERLOQUE PISTOL KEYCHAIN is it a firearm?

Post by manshah007 » Wed Dec 05, 2012 5:42 am

JuNearly 30 years ago a friend of mine brought agift for me, from dubai, knowing my craze for guns. It was a small wooden box and it contained a keychain ring with a miniature pistol (about a inch long) the ones like old flintlock, also amongst the neatly packed velvet lined box had plastic capsule containing 2mm blank caps with a tiny pin, also it had an adapter and small flares and a matchstick like rod for cleaning. The instructions sheet was in german language. This tiny thing made pretty loud bark but no bite, now my question is does this comes under firearms category?

Very interesting, haven't seen one like that before.
What about the barrel is it blocked? it is in all probability a miniature blank fire so shouldn't be a problem.

If it is incapable of firing a projectile it does not come under a firearms category.

It is forward firing. The blanks are brass tubes and you can push a single No 9 shot into the end at one time rounds were produced but are now extremly rare.

As it says in the initial post it fires flares and has a cleaning rod !! The flare holder is screwed onto the end of the barrel, the gun is broken by pressing a small button on the side and a pinfire cartridge is placed in the breech, the flare is placed in the holder, powder towards the cartridge and is fired upwards, the flash from the cartridge ignites the flare which is projected forwards, I think this can be seen on youtube.
I have added two pictures of the 2mm cartridge and as can be seen they are capable of taking a small pellet [No 9 shot]. technically it is a firearm, though I dont think anyone would bother you if it wasn't loaded . There is a book written on these called " The Tiniest Guns" by Bob Urso, which includes instructions on how to make one
