i have seen a brno combo rifle/shotgun in kohima and it was say marvelous. Applied myself a licence and its about to approved. But what i worry now is the ammo. It has option for cal. 243win, cal.30-06, cal.308win. Though i'll have no problem with 12ga. Please anybody who has information please advice.

Wati,
If you can procure this, it would be wonderful! Could you confirm the model number and year of make.Is this it? http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/105-zbran ... O_802.aspx Would appreciate if you could post pictures of the actual gun.
The way I see it, your problem would not be so much about the actual firearm but the licensing thereof. I believe the licensing authorities consider this through two licenses. How that is done, I'm not too sure. I did own a .22lr/ .410 combination gun and had a single license for it and logically there should be one license. Do check this issue at your end.
As far as the ammunition is concerned, .30-06 rounds are easily available, .308 would be difficult to say but some shooters do bring it in and this ultimately finds it's way in the domestic market. The .243 would be a different matter altogether. If the gun is relatively new all three calibres could be an option. On the other hand, if the firearm has been brought in before the import restrictions came into effect it is likely to be a .30-06.
However, how can you say that 'it has an option of......calibres'? Obviously barrels are not interchangeable unless the dealer is offering you a choice of three guns in different calibres and that the firearm in question will have only one calibre barrel apart from the .12 bore

Re: brno combo rifle/shotgun
Katana,
well, for the licence the authority is writing as "Combo rifle/shotgun".
which is double barrel no doubt. Now that the ammo. information is being cleared by you, i'll go for 30-06 with 12ga. But sir can you say which gun is using 30-06 ammo. in india.
For more information regarding the gun pl. visit this..http://www.cz-usa.com/products/view/brn ... leshotgun/.
Meanwhile if anyone has any information regarding importing this gun. Pl. guide me.
The jurisdiction of the arms licence is going to be "All India",as was informed to me earlier.
Thanks
wati jamir.

Wati, Welcome to IFG. Like Katana, I am unable to understand about the choice you have.Either the gun you have has a barrel for particular calibre or it doesn't.Where is the confusion? Or you planning to get additional barrels for the same gun? I would think it is near impossible. Any rifle chambered for the .30/06 would fire it. I again do not understand your question about which gun in India uses .30/06. Please do tell us.Thank you.

Wati,
I think you are under the impression that you could import this easily and that you would get an All India Validity license for it. Please be aware that both scenarios are extremely difficult in today's times.
First get yourself your license and then hunt for the gun I also doubt if the LA will grant you a license for 'combination rifle/shotgun'. Better you come come clean with what you are looking for.
As concerns the ammo for .30-06, there are enough makes in the market, including our own IOF/ KF. And, any firearm chambered for the said calibre/ cartridge will fire it.
Specifically, look up the IOF .30-06 in the Rifles Section for more info.
