Pythons are costly world over but six lakhs is amazing. And the same price for a Rossi...they used to be considered junk at one time. Asif had better not see the Mossberg price
.

I think we will be reduced to Indians for airguns at this rate.

We already are, Dev.

If a Pump Action is going at this price. I wonder how much they will ask for Berreta u/O or for that matter any U/O ..
I don't think I will be able to afford a decent shotgun in my whole life in INDIA.

I presume that the Rossi is a Taurus ? Taurus revolvers have been well made for many years now........but they`re not in the same league as a Python !
On the basis that the Rosi costs the same as the Python it could be said that the Python is a bargain.........except that a quick calculation indicates that 600,000 Rupees is over £7000 !!!!
Oh well, at least you`re allowed handguns.....even if they do cost as much as a small car. Things could be worse...........................................

Friends,
The world's first ban on gun ownership was enacted in 1857 after the defeat of the armies of Rani Lakshmibai, Tantiya Tope and Nana Phadnavis and the exile of Bahadur Shah Zafar to Rangoon. We now have an Indian government that uses the same repressive tactics against us that the colonial rulers in the Raj days and their allies did.
We defeated the tyrants from the past and consigned them to history using completely peaceful means. There is no reason why we cannot do it now. By spreading the word round and getting our message across, I think we could achieve freedom again in the future. I know that things are difficult in India but I do not wish to end this on a negative note. We are fighting for our rights and we have to do it with a positive attitude.
Cheers!

$13K for a Python. Like Grumpy said, its either a bargain when compared to the Rossi at the same price or the Rossi is WAY overpriced.
This could be my retirement plan. I cd buy a small house/flat for that money. When my wife and and I retire and want to move back to India, we can bring along a couple of these and retire on a decent "investment".
So, here's my nagging question, which "group" is lobbying to get this changed ??? Like the NRA in the US even drafts the proposed changes to the law and uses some senator/congressmen to sponsor it and lobbies the rest to get it approved. SOL Huh ???

Afraid not, Sharief.
Any firearm brought back on TR cannot be sold or gifted during the life of the original owner.
What does SOL mean?

mehul,
if you're talking of how we got our independence from the british, i wouldn't agree with you.it was the political instability in england that led to the fall of the british empire and not 'peaceful means' as we read in our history textbooks.

It was hardly political instability Pran - the Labour Government elected immediately post WWII had a massive majority. Indias` independence was due to public opinion within India, a Labour Government and electorate that sympathised and an exchequer that was totally bankrupt after two World Wars. There wasn`t the will or the money available to fight independence.

Grumpy,
'political instability' might not have been the right word.but i was referring to the the economic crisis in Britain in 1947 that made many feel Labour government of Clement Attlee should abandon Britain's attempt to retain all of its overseas territories.

Pran, this will go way off-topic,not that I am averse to it given the topic, should we start discussing how India won her independence instead of how gun rights are to be won. As Grumpy says, the Labour government had a clear majority and it was hardly unstable.Britain might have been militarily a "spent force"(can't think of a more appropriate expression at the moment) at the time of 1947.Even then, the prospects of India winning her freedom were very bright even before the beginning of the WW-II. Suffice to say, I completely disagree with your argument and yes I did read history, not just Indian text books.
Best regards-
Vikram
