NEW DELHI: In a shocking robbery attempt by a law enforcer, a Delhi Police cop shot dead an elderly businessman and seriously injured another person while trying to escape with his booty near the Old Delhi Railway Station late on Saturday evening.
Police said the rogue cop, head constable Ajay Kumar Tomar of Delhi Police's 7th battalion, was in uniform and used an illegal .32 revolver for the crime. Police have also recovered 12 live cartridges and another illegal revolver from his house...
...(victim) Amarjeet Chaddha was taken to Tirath Ram Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 10.15pm. "After the shooting, Amarjeet called me and said 'Come fast to the hospital'. He kept repeating that he had given everything away - cash and jewellery - but the constable still shot at him. I remember his voice as he writhed in pain," said Chaddha's brother, Balbir.

Oh this is BAD
Citizens of this country have no hope left. In Bangalore a big chunk of labour comes from Orissa and Bengal and one shoudl listen to their horror stories of how railway police treat them when they go back home. They are robbed, beaten, abused. Our Maid's husband wes beaten up by railway polie and they took away his cash and a CD player which he was taking for his childrens.
Anybody who applies for license and cops ask them for "threat" Thrust this news paper cutting under their noses.

They say Delhi is a well policed city. If this the state of a well policed city, then we can imagine the state of other places.
Is this not reason enough to support the Gun owner's rights?

No. Everybody needs to stay forever merrily disarmed. If you are in possession of any weapon, you are bound to transform yourself into a criminal. This is exactly what happened with this policeman. Use the "brilliant" logic and reasoning of antis, as a solution, the entire police force should be disarmed immediately.

Whats more .. someone has been busy drafting the usual bigotry, watch this.
http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Default/ ... wMode=HTML
Excerpts:
"...Guns are bought ostensibly for the purposes of self-defence, yet people tend to use them to settle petty issues and assert dominance. The victims may or may not be known to the culprit – but the trivial, and sometimes unfounded reasons behind the crime are similar all around..."
"...India ranks second in the world when it comes to civilian gun ownership. There are approximately 40 million civilian guns in India – 5 million of which are unregistered..."
I believe we should give back a mouthful of facts and arguments so their false intellect bleeds for while. May be they won't stop, but then we shouldn't as well. We should do our job by refuting this guys/papers Bu**Sh**.
What do you say?

Virendra

True, and hopefully a receiving officer is not of Tomar's group.

bad cop.
i tried to find out some more details about this incident, but could not get any.i feel the cops are trying to avoid media for reasons of their own.
acquiring illegal arms must have been easy for this guy.and having a weapon in hand must have made him crazy.
i hope they investigate how he got into police force...

This is indeed a gruesome incident. But would any of us point a licensed weapon against a police officer in uniform? How would we diffrentiate his intent. We already have a confusion if the guy in uniform is really a police officer. Any thoughts?

As per newspaper reports the rouge cop was a habitual offender, weapon used was illegal, unarmed citizen who chashed him was shot dead and he was subdued when encountered by police patrol carrying firearms.

What a Shame the youths family is going to get Rs 50,000 as compansation.
If anyone knows that family kindly contact me , what is the reason that person is not getting the best bravery award available for civilians in India, just because he was shot by a rough police man and not by a terroriest.
Pls contact me if u have any link to the family, I will personally fight his case the compansation can't be measured in terms of money but it has to be between 50 lack to 1 cr.
Regards.
