breaking news- massacre and suicide

hi guys,
its on the news, this particular software engineer shoots his family with a gun and then turns it on himself live on tv .if it had to end the way it did I wish it was the other way around, he should have been waving a potato peeler and the finally being shot by one of the survivors. Just imagine what the press could make out of it, and our RBKA. Even if things have to change i just hope it will not be as simple as a voice vote. positive comments would really be reassuring.
regards

1). Was the gun licensed or not?
2). One thing here to point out is why he did what he did rather than how he did it...
A drunk man driving a BMW runs over a family sleeping on the sidewalk.. would you blame BMW or the liquor company or the man driving the car?
Its all the perception game and the media is only worried about their TRPs

One thing here to point out is why he did what he did rather than how he did it.
I knew such a fellow who did the very same thing. A nice person and rather successful he was the supervisor of a group of engineers. He took his wife's and 3 children's lives, and then his own.
Normally, when I read this sort of thing, I am outraged by the person condemning his wife and family and taking their innocent lives. However, I am reminded by this fellow's example above: he seemed to be quite normal, quite nice, very skilled -- I still am unsure why he would have done such a wicked act. The rush to jump to a quick fix ignores the underlying problems with the person who did such a thing, as well as who would do such a thing, because it will happen again. Here in our metro area, our news captured the story of a fellow who split from his wife and kidnapped his older two kids, took them home, and drowned them. He was trying to get into the back window of the people who were babysitting his youngest when the police nabbed him.
I hope our do-gooding social engineers do not derive the lesson that bath tubs need to be banned to prevent such tragedies. (I prefer showers, myself, but my Wife likes a bath tub.)

Well, "if it saves but one life", the antis' mantra, were to be observed, bath tubs would definitely have to be outlawed.

How about a license for a bathtub issued from local DM office and to be renewed every 6 month.
