Advertising/Awareness campaign for NAGRI

Hi All,
I was talking to Abhijeet and the number of NAGRI members we have is shameful and not worth mentioning. The IFG forum has a respectable number of members but sadly it has not transpired into equal number of NAGRI members.Perhaps more awareness needs to be brought about. I think we will see a good increase in number of members if the registration can be done online.
Can't we propose a suggestion and take an online poll that all IFG memberships if all members agree and vote can automatically be turned into NAGRI members /memberships?
Myself and a few other friends have come up with a plan to bring about awareness about NAGRI and also the bigger issue of proposed changes in new arms policy and how it will change and affects a common man's life and rights of the common law abiding gunowner.Lets tell them how NAGRI is opposing and fighting this change. Not only the gunowner but non gunowning common man should also be told how it will affect his/her way of life.
If someone can come up with a good write up and brief bulleted style points we can have fliers printed and sent through newspapers.
An
eye catching poster with NAGRI logo can be designed and printed on sunflex plastic and tied up on poles etc . making people aware of the proposed arms policy changes and asking then to log on and join NAGRI...(
The cost of this sort of advertising will be willingly born by me and like minded individuals who want to do their part of the bit for our cause)
I would also like to propose that
NAGRI be open to accepting subscriptions/ membeship fee/ donations. There are willing individuals who will not mind donating for the cause and will not be asking for things like ID cards and benefits etc. (I know one of our friend has a different view point to this)
Last but not the least
we do need an online membership/registration of NAGRI. Abhijeet we need to do something about this and i am sure our numbers will increase and will not be the shameful figure you told me.
I also request everyone to be keep sending suggestions on this issue.... get serious or we loose our rights and make peace with our way of life to be changed forever.
Regards to all IFGians
Rakshit.

Yes I do agree that membership should also be done online. Moreover in addition to existing members, new IFG members can be automatically made members of NAGRI. Yes NAGRI should also be open to accepting subscriptions/ membership fee/ donations through traditional as well as online means. I also have a feeling that if online acceptance of membership/ subscriptions/ membership fee/ donations is done it should make a difference. Fliers printed and sent through newspapers is also a good idea.

I, along with my father (both arms license holders) have diligently sent in our forms but beyond that have not received any reply or conformation that we are members. Maybe it's being miss-managed in some way or those who are responsible are not bothered. Unless there is good communication it will result in a failure.

I agree, all those who have sent cheques along with the subscription, they should be starting point. We should not turn away those who have sent cheque along with membership form. Rest several online expense reporting, we can use those to display the expense if people are worried for transparency. like
http://www.shortreckonings.com/
Also, it would be good if in some way we can get confirmation on the subscription received, in this manner, if there are people who have posted there forms, but due to some reason not yet received, then we can repost our membership forms.
Also another suggestion as given, if we can just send out vote thread, to all members, to convert their IFG membership into the NAGRI membership, for the other relevant info required, we should be able online form. I think online conversion with Unique identifier like Arm License no, or passport or DL no, should suffice the need for validity.

Thanks Guys... At least some people replied... I see so many other posts posted at the same time or after this one was posted, have been replied to but the one that should hold priority and interest in eyes of gunowners and enthusiasts receives such few replies.Makes me wonder if we are fighting for an already lost cause. Not many seem bothered...Please send suggestions and lets work towards a poster and the content of flyers...

Great initiative! We have an up and running website already. Downloading the forms, taking print-outs, filling them up, and posting them becomes too hectic at times. Having a form online would really save a lot of time and the efforts as well. I run and digital ad agency, and I'd love to program an online form. People can fill it up online, and attach documents too. Like, their Bio, ID proofs, thumb sized photos for NAGRI ID cards. We can run a social media campaign, spread the word via twitter, facebook, youtube, etc. it's all there FREE of cost guys.
Lets digitize, and it will make our lives simpler. No, seriously! Do let me know what you'll think.
Best regards,
Saif
P.S- I have sent 30 forms via post. Still have no clue if you have got them.

I am very positive about IFG & NAGRI. It is for the first time in 60 years with help, support and vigilance of IFG members and NAGRI that an amendment to Arms Act has been opposed with MHA, and also in Parliament and the bill has been now sent to Standing Committee.
1) In December 2009 around Christmas, MHA had posted the draconian proposal to amend Arms Act, at its website only giving very short time period for comments by public, with the view to avoiding any notice by people, since people would be busy celebrating Christmas and New Year. This draconian proposal amendment was noticed by vigilant IFG members and was opposed by writing protest letters to MHA and also met the concerned MHA officials in person. I see this to be a success, since MHA was forced to give up the idea of sending the draconian amendment bill to parliament in its original form. Instead MHA has been forced to play hide and seek like thieves, by pushing the same contents of original amendment it wanted, into a illegal "policy" issued dated 31.3.2010.
2) MHA's ploy of making the illegal draconian policy into a legal one under the garb of innocent looking Arms Amendment Bill 2010 has also been exposed. NAGRI along with MPs appraised the Prime Minister. Moreover IFG members contacted their MPs who raised this issue in Parliament by asking questions and demanding the Bill to be sent to Standing Committee. In the past all the amendments to arms act were passed without any kind of opposition in Parliament, since MPs practically did not know the implications of what they were passing in Parliament.
If we compare what has been done in past 60 years for this cause, all this is no small achievement. But that does not mean everything is done forever and we all can relax. Lot more needs to be done continuously.

Now with shooting still being biggest feeder of the Gold medal in CWG2010, we should be able to exploit that also to some extend.

Yes India winning medals in shooting should arouse interest for shooting in people. But shooting sports, hunting etc. as arguments for RKBA are very weak reasons. RKBA is a Fundamental Right & a Human Right as well.
1) Apex court has held that many rights not mentioned in Part III of Constitution are also included in Part III.
2) Apex court has held that the citizens are allowed to enjoy the rights under Part III of Constitution to the fullest measure.
3) The Right to Self Defense is guaranteed under Article 21 of Part III of Constitution to all persons including natural and juristic persons. How can citizens enjoy this right to the fullest measure unless allowed to keep arms? State or Police/para military etc. etc. for the Constitution/law is a "juristic" person. Hence right of Police/para military etc. etc. to keep arms comes from Right to Keep & Bear Arms for self defense under Article 21. But Police/para military etc. etc. is allowed to enjoy the very same right to the fullest measure under same article of Part III of Constitution. How can only the citizens rights be violated, abridged or go missing from the same Part III of Constitution?

I agree its week argument, but now with interest in it, ppl might take more notice to it.
I think it will be great if we can have any of the current medalist endorse for us, it might be difficult to meet their financial expectations, but i think it might be worth a try. Its like carrying on with the current wave.

We should same the same back drop as US, with lines like
Guns, They made us proud, they make us safe also.
Another person i think whom we can try is actor, Nanna patekar, he is know to support this cause. He will have wider appeal also.
I know its easier said than done, but just given thoughts

I think best way is to make some copies of NAGRI forms and give it to dealers in your city. It will reach intended audience.
Even more paste it on the back of an inland letter or something like that so that anybody can just fill it and post it. Cost can be borne by members collectively.

actually i was thinking of taking permission and putting it up in the license Dept.
Atleast we can put it in the parking lot of the licensing offices.
What do you say.
