This is posted here especially for those who thought that the proposed centralised database of arms license holders, was nothing but an innocent attempt by the MHA to streamline things. It would seem that it will be plugged into this new tool that Wipro is to develop for the MHA, so we can all now look forward to needless harassment simply because we own licensed arms!

A waste of money if you ask me. As with most things it will not serve its "stated purpose" but can certainly be misused. The Home department of each State would probably have access to this information already if required by a neighbouring state, so what is the idea behind centralizing this?

Does this mean that currently Police verifications are incomplete or unreliable or difficult? (As it is the only thing that they do is come home to see if you gave the correct residence details)

Real purpose of any gun control is always nefarious. Everyone knows that criminals will not be getting their guns registered in database. Also this database concept seems against arms act and national security. Refer: http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... 899#p99549 and http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... 05#p106560
