Re: Review of Arms Act and Arms policy
Since I'm not too knowledgeable on intricate gun laws and policies, I have decided to contact a leading Chennai lawyer who is also a gun enthusiast and a member of NRAI to seek his advice on how to go about this. I'll post the results in another couple of days. In the meantime, i'm also waiting for Abhijeet's message.

Gentlemen,
Though I'm not a lawyer or extremely resourceful/networked, but let me know if I could be of any help .. skill wise or even as a volunteer .

Re: Review of Arms Act and Arms policy
ladies and gents of the forum, i would like to make a small point, and that is:
keep your response via email short and sweet, the gent who is going to read it(i hope) also has to go to lunch as well. a long winded response will not get read. just put your self in his place.
and keep to the points in the draft, comparing to other nations is pointless and proves noting. use fact for par 3 , best to all , am out of here.

Re: Review of Arms Act and Arms policy
Hello,
Firstly I'd like to express my gratitude to all of you at IFG. It nears a year since I joined hands here on 1st Jan 2009.
Times of India Bangalore edition for today has an article at page 8, titled as "Centre to keep tabs on all gun owners".
URL of the same article at Times Of India Bangalore e-paper edition.
http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Default/ ... =HTML&GZ=T
Though much of it is already under discussion here; thought of just sharing it.
Greetings of the New Year in advance

Please review and let me have your respective feedback by 2 AM. Thank you to ex-IFG member penpusher for him making the first raw draft, his ongoing support & feedback, as well as to all of you who have given me so many ideas on this. Re: Review of Arms Act and Arms policy
include the following :-
1)"within the calibers allowed to the civil populace i.e. so called NPB weapons import of weapons should be allowed to a license holder. the state may even charge 100% duty on the same. this shall force our so called indigenous arm industry to wake up and see the quality of their craft for which a citizen is being made to pay twice as compared to a quality firearm . the above facility even if granted to a licensee once in his lifetime shall enable us to own quality firearms which are so far the purview of our fearless leaders who are any way protected by the money i earn and pay as taxes after risking my life and limb in the terrorist haven that my country is.

Re: Review of Arms Act and Arms policy
Well done mundaire, god bless you and penpusher and all at IFG who contributed!!!
This email draft needs to be sent not only to IFG members but "each and every citizen" of our country. All should be requested to send their objections to the proposed draft by email as well as by registered/speed post. I will also email as well as send my objections to the draft by registered/speed post. I will also email to around 100 email addresses I have, and dig more email addresses of MPs/MLAs, opposition parties, civil rights organizations, media organizations, news reporters etc. I request all reading this to do the same, and if something better, nothing like it.

Yes weapons import by license holders need to be opened up. There is no need to suggest any percentage of duty, as government is very clever, it knows how to claim its pound of flesh."within the calibers allowed to the civil populace i.e. so called NPB weapons import of weapons should be allowed to a license holder. the state may even charge 100% duty on the same. this shall force our so called indigenous arm industry to wake up and see the quality of their craft for which a citizen is being made to pay twice as compared to a quality firearm . the above facility even if granted to a licensee once in his lifetime shall enable us to own quality firearms which are so far the purview of our fearless leaders who are any way protected by the money i earn and pay as taxes after risking my life and limb in the terrorist haven that my country is.
