Re: Review of Arms Act and Arms policy

Post by shooter » Mon Jan 04, 2010 5:29 am

guys, i would like to publicly like to thank abhijeet and penpusher for what they have done.

I had decided that i wouldnt do this emailing etc.
thats right would NOT. I was so disillusioned by the system and was telling myself that 'they wouldnt even botherreading it'; 'its not going to make a diference' ,etc etc

I have been following following this thread and noticing how hard these guys have been working ....for us!! this thread is 9 pages long but see the number of participants. yet these people didnt give up. And then i realised that i was acting this way to the 'learned helplessness' phenomenon.

I remembered the story of Jhansi ki rani:

Rani Lakshmibai was asked by one of her soldiers if she really thought they could beat the british and drive them out of the country. if this was worth her risking her life.

She replied that when a building is built it has 2 kinds of stone. one under the ground(foundation) and one over it. the ones under the ground can never be seen or be appreciated by the public and they themselves never get to see the beautiful building but they are still useful. if no stone is willing to be a foundation stone, the building will never rise.

If we dont try or start the process, we will never realise our dream. it is well worth the effort.

please please if a lazy disillusioned person can see the light and join the cause please please.

To quote Swami Vivekanand:

Arise, Awake, and Stop Not Till the Goal Is Reached!

If this post can persuade even one guy to write to the authorities, i shall consider this as my contribution to the cause.

I know one TVjournalist, & have contacted him; hopefully we might get media coverage.

Dear sir
since my last post of Dec 27 in which i had brought to the notice of this forum about the proposed changes at the MHA website lot of deliberations have taken place many good things have been generated still i would like to make the following suggestions to the moderators.
1 Please start a new thread in which a copy of pdf file of the objections is available and the method to down load it.
2 email ids of all the people to whom they have to be sent.
3 postal addresses of the people that has to be sent.
And please instruct that no one should post any opinion inthat thread except the moderator.
i am suggesting because any first time visitor who visits this site has to jumble across amny pages of information which can be a tedious job, for example i have been sending sms to my friends ti visit IFG and get the copy of objections for posting them but anew visitor finds it really difficult.
regards and cheers

NB if email id of rahul gandhi can be made available then its good because " a new small arms factory with a foreign collaboration is being made at amethi" and he is avid gun enthusiast probably owns a .357 magnum for that matter.

Hello All,

First of all my apologies to chip in so late, had been out for a long holiday with no internet connection at all.

GBM, Mundaire, Sukhpret, HATTS OFF to you guys, great job.

You guys have made a fantastic document and any praise for it is less. The best part is that it wont take more then 5 mins to copy paste and send the entire document to the ids provided. Amazing, Amazing job.

I have done my bit and to be very honest wont be bothered much of the outcome because after a long time so many people have volutarily come ahead and did something for the common cause of RKBA. In fact i would suggest others also, not to be disheartned if we are not heard this time. At least we have all come together and working to make this a success which eventually we will Achieve.

I know its late to send the speed post but will still do the same with a minimum of 32 signatures, no matter if it reaches late but wont leave this opportunity. apart from this i have contacted some of the guys in Media, will try my best to get it published in News papers as well. Hope i am not expecting too much coz the time is short.

Ravi.

If penpusher is a "former IFGian" why not let us invite him back to IFG? We should welcome him back!

Gents, penpusher begged to be excused around the time IFG went offline in May this year. While I would never presume to pressure him to come back, as I believe anyone who wishes to be here should be here of their own free will, I can assure you that he is as much with us on this issue as he would have been when he was a regular member here. You may not see him posting here, but he is always willing and always there to assist us in this cause. Furthermore, it has been really heartening to see members who were banned here (for various reasons, lets not get into that on this thread), or even left here (for their own reasons), come together and join us in full support of this cause. Asides from our own membership which has rallied together like never before in full support against these irrational policy measures, in the past few days I have been in constant touch with Shutzen who has been more than just supportive, in every which way - thinking of suggestions on tactics, calling up people, putting me in touch with people he thought could help the cause, etc., and also Perazzi & Shahid who sent in their objections promptly burying any personal differences - for the common cause of all gun owners, Olly who took the initiative to ensure that people on other websites were kept in the loop and could contribute in time etc. I would like to thank all of these gentlemen, I mention them specifically as it takes a big man to bury his own ego for the greater good of all... so long as our fraternity has people who are willing to do that, I will continue to have hope.

May I also take this opportunity to thank every single one of you who has sent his/ her own objections, those who have lobbied tirelessly with their respective associations to get them to do the same and those who have spent countless hours spreading the word (on e-mail/ phone etc.) to ensure that everyone got to hear of this in time - despite the well planned & cleverly timed bombshell that our Min. of Home Affairs had planned as a new years gift for all of us.

For those who have not already sent in their objections, PLEASE DO SO NOW, you still have TWO more days to do so. It really is now or never for all of us this time, if you don't do so now, we may soon have to rename this website to Indians for catapults or Indians for lathis (sticks/ canes)... Don't for a moment think "what difference will my one objection make" - IT CAN AND IT WILL! So send it in ASAP.

Cheers!
Abhijeet

Very rightly said so, Abhijeet, and thank you for all the effort to unite everyone in this cause.

I may also mention that Rajeev Sharma, Secretary of the Delhi State Rifle Assn also voiced his concerns and appealed for all to air their concerns on the proposed amendments to the Arms Act. So I believe that the combined effort will bear fruit.

My objections are despatched... 8)
