Indians For Guns

Came across this wonderful site about a week ago and between shooting and home have spent most of my time reading through the various articles. This site does give a really good peek in the lives of fellow gun enthusiats from India.
Well, like quite a few members, I too was introduced to air guns at a very early age, i think I was 5-6 years old with a BSA 22 (still think of a cycle when I think of the brand) and then a Diana 22 both good guns but the BSA was more powerful. Never really graduated from an airgun in India from the occasional look or handling (not firing in any terms) of other guns in the house. Targets those days were the occasional "Pan Parag" cans. Have moved to Cleveland, Ohio a little over 9 years ago and the thought of owning a gun came up again, went ahead and got myself a gun to see if I still like the sport, well as it stands I still do.
The forum is a really good idea and if I had been aware of this close to a year ago, guess my deceson on guns would have been wuite different. Will have a lot of questions that will post in the relevant sections later.

Had you joined us a couple of months ago, we would have had your company at our pheasant hunt in Indiana as you are also in the Midwest. In any case, your joining only means one more friend who would join us, hopefully, the next time we organise a shoot.

Thanks guys.
Sorry, thought the post was getting too big, so cut short. Well first bought a Walther P22 for target shooting and then got an over-under Remington Spartan (Baikal)12 gauge for trap, yes I have heard a lot of bad things about this particular one its the forums. But didnt want to buy the automatics or pumps and wanted an overunder so bought the cheapest one available, but it shoots pretty well though will make a few mods to it which will write in the relevant sections.

Baikal is a very tough and functional gun. Check out a posts by Grumpy and Mehul on it. Have fun

Navdeep is absolutely right. Never, ever diss the Baikals. They are low priced but very well put together and they are used as a basis for making semi custom guns by such notables as Paul Roberts in the UK and Christian Ducros in France. They are good guns, just don't expect Best gun finish at their sub $ 400 price. That said, they would, most certainly, outlast most fine guns considering the amount of abuse they are designed to take. I am waiting for them to introduce their Artemida side by side double rifle in 45-70 so I could buy it and down a few hogs with it.

Do let us know how your P 22 performs. Amit is looking for a 22 autopistol for his wife and he has been considering various options. We went out and checked out a few different guns and he liked the S&W 41s but found them out of his price range. The Hammerli Trailside and P 22 would be within his budget. Your suggestion may help him decide. He is currently in India but should be back very soon.
