Greetings to all. I am a type 07 US Federal Firearms License holder, specializing in performance enhanced Saiga 12, Kalashinkov 12 gauge semi automatic shotguns. I currently produce shotguns in both tactical and sporter trim (with and without pistol grips).
These shotguns are quite versatile as they are essentially box fed AK's chambered for 12 gauge. Magazine capacities range from two to thirty rounds, with 10, and 12 round mags, and 20 round drums.
I am a jeweler by training and trade, and began rebuilding off the shelf Saiga 12 C sporter shotguns into performance tuned versions after an experience with bandits on the highway. I got away, but the experience is one I will never forget! That experience led me to develop a fast reliable personal defense weapon capable of effectively defending against multiple assailants if need be.
I am interested in marketing my guns in India, and would appreciate hearing from dealers there who are interested in working with me to make my shotguns available to Indian gun owners.
At this point, I am not sure if Indian law allows the import and ownership of these shotguns, but if so - I believe there is certainly a good market for them among those who are interested in owning what is possibly the best home and personal defense weapon available anywhere.
A video of the guns in action follows
Apologies in advance to those who are not fond of American country music. You are welcome to turn the volume down -- it won't offend me at all;)
I can be reached at mm_rogers (ampersand) yahoo.com.
With best regards,

Hello Michael
At the moment the Indian Govt. does not allow imports of firearms except for renown shot certificate holders, who are primarily issued these certificates on the basis of their performances in the National Level ISSF Category shooting competitions. But one never knows, due to a band of extremely dedicated individuals here on this site, efforts are being made to make the necessary ammendments. Its a long haul, but lets keep our fingers crossed.
I am sure one of our more senior and more qualified gentlemen will be responding to your post with more information and in greater detail.

My experience of dealing with two Arms Dealers uptill now is good one. Recently I purchased a Swiss Knife & torch from Aim Point Pune during my Pune visit in December. I have posted a review about it also. Owner Mr. Mohammed Bhai Bandukwala is a thorough gentleman, always willing to help & always prompt in answering your mails. Another dealer from whom I have purchased a Nieto Bowie, is Mr. Kezar Husen Bandukwala of Banduk Bhandar, Indore. He is also willing to help & answer ur mails immediately. Ofcourse Mr. Joy Biswas of AIMCO is in the same class. I have purchased a Model 200 from him. Worst experience is with Gun Mark Armoury Pune. They even don't bother to answer ur mails & it is not always to possible to get the entire information on phone.....

Thanks! Sorry to hear about import restrictions. However, I am still very encouraged to learn that private gun ownership by law abiding citizens is alive and well in India!
An armed society is a polite society. Stick to your guns my friends! And, if you ever happen to be in Albuquerque, give me a shout and we'll go shooting at the local NRA range!

Hi MIchael,
Welcome to IFG and thank you for stopping by. Hopefully one day we will do away with these inane restrictions and will be able to handle the fine firearms you produce. All the best with your venture.

Michael,
Thanks for taking the time to register and post on IFG.As has already been pointed out, import of arms by citizens has been banned since 1986.Also,getting a license for a semi-automatic shotgun/rifle is virtually impossible and is only granted on special considerations.
However you may want to have a look at selling it to the security forces.India has an annual Defence Expo. where companies from all over the world display their products.Prospective customers for your shotgun could be the police and para-military forces.
Also,Indian govt has allowed private companies to start manufacture of arms for sale to the armed/security forces. You might be able to get one of the companies interested in your product.Mahindra & Mahindra and Larsen& Tubro have a license for manufacture. There is another whose name I am not aware of.
BTW,total purchases for the armed forces is projected at Rs 37,000,00,00,000/-(divide this by 50 and you have an approximate figure in dollars). However be warned that the entire process is highly bureaucratic and bogged down by charges of corrupt practices.

Thanks to all for the great input.. Once again, I'm disappointed to hear that Indian Laws preclude the import of "foreign" firearms. What I do is not so much the ground up manufacturing of the extraordinary shotguns I build, as to strip Russian guns down to the barrel and receiver and rebuild them as high performance personal defense and tactical fireams which cycle virtually any commercially available 12 gauge ammunition flawlessly, and with blistering speed (semi auto only). This is something the off the shelf Russian guns presently will not do. They are designed to work primarily with a fairly narrow range of high brass police and military issue ammunition.
Rebuilding and modifying them the way I do, allows the guns to reliably cycle ammo that costs a fraction (typically one sixth) of the price of the military and police issue stuff. This of course opens the door to a range of sporting and personal defense uses that would otherwise be cost prohibitive if one expends a great deal of ammo.
From a police or military perspective it's not such a bad idea either, because the same weapon as is used in the field can be used in training with great cost savings. After a couple of thousand rounds have been expended, the weapon literally pays for itself, an absolute "win win" situation.
To answer the OP's question about hunting - no, I don't hunt. The guns I build can be configured for hunting purposes, but are an AK platform originally designed for police, military, and security. In my younger years I did a little bit of small game hunting - rabbits mostly, but as my father's code dictated that I eat what I shoot, and I am not fond of rabbit, I quickly lost interest. Also, aside from my hand guns one of the only long guns at my disposal at the time was a WW1 vintage .303 British Enfield, and shooting rabbits with the Enfield didn't yield much edible meat. I certainly have nothing against hunting, and support responsible, ethical hunting where it is appropriate and legal.
With best regards to all,
Michael Rogers

Welcome Michael to IFG. BTW, I have had the good fortune of trying out Saiga 12 guage shotgun as SRPF (ie. State Reserve Police Force), Mumbai, has imported a few I assume on experimental basis. They are actually trying out these mean machines with rubber bullets to ward off violent rioters. Frankly I found the shouldering of these guns pretty uncomfortable. This could also be because I am not used to handling wired folding stock and that too a bit too short for my hands. It shot beautifully though with No.4&6 shots. The flight of the rubber slug was rather erratic, but then again that could be because they were made ingeniously without much consideration on aerodynamics. There were no glitches or stoppages either. The recoil too was soft and negligible. It is indeed one rugged gun as all AK actions are meant to be. I doubt if civilians would ever be allowed to possess it ever in India as it happens to be a semi auto action. BUT, it is one menacing looking machine that could settle most arguments without a shot being fired. Good going for the law atleast.

Glad to hear Law Enforcement in India are trying the S12 out. There are quite a few LEO's here who own S12's personally, however at the departmental level there is ongoing institutional resistance to deploying a Russian made firearm - even if it IS the best SA shotgun available!
To answer the OP's question, I have no idea if I am related to Kenny Rogers. Family research has our branch of the family related to the Presley's of Tennessee ("Thank you very much")! The family name in is of Norman origin and predates the revolutionary war in the US. Genetic testing has revealed that my fathers line are direct descendants of Cro Magnon - the pre-historic cave painters of Spain and Southern France.
This has nothing to do with guns of course, except to establish that my family has a long history with weaponry beginning with rocks, spears, and bludgeons....
