Indians For Guns

g'day all,
just joined up to encourage you all in your fight for the same gun rights that i enjoy here in the u.s.. i'm from vermont, in the northeastern u.s. and my situation is fairly unique even here in the states. my state does not issue, or require, any form of "gun permit/license" to buy, own, or carry a pistol or revolver, rifle or shotgun, openly or concealed. only machineguns are regulated under federal law, but may be purchased and owned by paying a special $200.00 dollar federal tax. while some might think this would lead to lawlessness and anarchy we live in peace and safety, and crime is low, as would be criminals must worry if their intended victim might be armed. ordinary, law abiding citizens treat each other with courtesy and respect. i own several guns, two SIG pistols, a p220 .45 and p226 9mm, an m1911a1 colt service model .45 like the one i carried as a u.s. marine, and a model 10 smith & wesson .38 special revolver, also a 7.62mm "f.a.l." semi-automatic rifle, like those made by your ishapore arsenal, but mine was made by the argentine government "rosario arsenal", and "last but not least a savage/stevens model 720 semi-auto 12 bore riot shotgun. my wife, daughter and son have their own guns, but this post is getting a bit long so i'll list them another time if anyone is curious.

thank you for the welcome, no, i don't hunt anymore, old age is catching up with me, but vermont is a good hunting state, with whitetail deer and black/brown bear and much small game. deer hunting season, in the fall of the year is almost, but not quite, a state holiday with many workers take time off for it, and feeding their families with their kill as well as selling the deer hides. when i did hunt, in younger days my favourite rifle was a model 1903 military "springfield" .30-06, i also sometimes used a no.1 mkIII lee-enfield .303. both were good powerful rifles for deer and bear, i've also used a webley mark 4 .38 revolver for hunting raccoon at night with dogs. we hear rumours that the "catamount" a type of mountain lion native to vermont, but thought to be exctinct since the late 19th century have been seen again but there is no hunting season for them, just the rumours so far.

(chuckle) band camp eh? and what were you hunting there...? thanks for the welcome and compliment to my home state, i moved here with my new wife over 40 years ago in large part for the freedom of its gun laws. it is a beautiful state as you say, i've driven over most of it too, driving an armoured truck to the banks and enjoyed my job for the scenery along the roads.

you're from las vegas? a tip, since vermont does not issue, or require pistol permits your nevada carry permit would be valid "by default" here. you can carry openly or concealed just as a vermont resident can once you manage to get through new york and/or massachusetts. neither state honors any permit but their own.

Welcome aboard and thanks for the support. Do post often...we did have a member from your neck of woods. NH lives up to state motto 'Live Free or Die"..Its beautiful state with great scenery drove through few times.

thank you all for the welcome, i expect to enjoy learning from you-all and sharing some of what i've learned over the years with you. one note, i hope no one minds if i sometimes quote from rudyard kipling's poetry, i've enjoyed his writing for most of my life, particulary his poetry and i find that much of it still applies in our modern life.

except for the weather, (it is 17.4 degrees fahrenheit just now, at 0645 hours) i think you would be happy in my town. we have an indian restaurant where you can get a good curry and a shop owned by an indian family where you can buy indian cigarettes and other things. i was in the shop a while back buying my (american) smokes, their prices are cheaper, and they did not seem surprised or upset to see me carrying my colt .45 automatic in plain view. since they have the best price in town for cigarettes buy all my cigarettes from them.

Welcome to IFG. I am really impressed with your collection of arms. In India you can only own (a max) of 3 arms (4 in some cases).
