When I first met Abhijeet some years back, I was a happy go lucky Bachelor posted in Bombay and hit it off with him. Little did I know that the person I had met was not only a good Person but also had amazing knowledge about some thing which I was passionate about from childhood. GUNS ......
I was amazed the in-depth knowledge he had not only about guns but the laws which we have in this country. The way he has explained the laws is truly like a bible and I personally don’t think we need to go any where else to understand the subject.
I am a Professional Rally Driver who has been active on the Indian Rally and Race Circuit for the last 15 years and still going strong. It was during my rallying days when I actually had the opportunity to fire a lot of weapons, all thanks to my friends in the Indian Armed forces who were also active on the Rally Circuit.
I have had the pleasure to fire almost all the arms that are present with the Armed Forces and that to in all the weird places.
I am in the process for applying for my Arms licence and am hopeful of getting the same cleared once the election process is over.
Some of weapons I have fired till now are The -.303 Lee Enfield Rifle , The INSAS Rifle (Forgotten how many rounds as this is the easily available rifle at any unit and the ammo is also plentiful) , The Bren Light Machine Gun (Commonly called as the LMG Gun) , AK-47 , AK-56 , Heckler & Koch MP5 (PSO to the Chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh had one and could not refuse as my navigator is the son of the CM ) ,Browning GP35 Hand Gun (Police Commando unit – Mumbai) , MSG 90 Sniper rifle & Dragunov Sniper Rifle (14 Madras posted at Tawang- Arunachal Pradesh at the Indo- China Border , Tavor Tar-21 (Its an Israeli gun now with some RR Units in Kashmir- Fired this on my Honey Moon). Colt.45 (Friends at the US Embassy ) M-16 Rifle . and also our Trusted IOF Brands (Not a Big Fan of those )
I have also driven some awesome machines of our armed forces like the Arjun MBT at Bikaner (Forgot the unit, remember the CO , he still owes me a gypsy tyre which he borrowed from me during the Rally Desert Storm ).BMP -1 , Stallion 4x4 Truck, Rampar – amphibious vehicle , Tatra 8x8 Truck ,even a Bofors (Took it out of the Storage area right here at the Army Cantonment in New Delhi).
Besides this I am also a keen collector of Knives and Swords. ( I Just pick them up First and find about the make and history later). To be honest Most of my collection is from Bangkok, Thailand and the rest I have successfully collected by bribing my friends with Alcohol and bartering it. I own a Smith and Wesson one, dam cool. Gave a GI a packet of Bidi’s for the same.
Will post the pictures of the soon.
I would also like to congratulate each and every one on the forum for the Knowledge and the expertise and the experience they bring with them, it’s a great place to be and I will surely enjoy my stay here.
Cheers ...!!!!
