Hello every one,
I’m Biju Paul from a small town near Cochin. I’m running an office and shop in Cochin, we are basically dealers of some Audio & Video Non Linear editing solutions, Microphones, Audio studio monitors, professional sound cards, and also provides solutions and consultancy for home and professional broadcasting studios.
The only connection for me with the guns, was my grandfather (mother side), he was a Cardamom Planter. He had three guns, one rifle, one Double Barrel and another Single barrel 12bore shotguns. But I’ve seen only one that was a SBL, others two were stolen from his farmhouse, many years later during the re-plantation both found burred in estate itself, fully spoiled. Yes, and one more was there it was a .22 Air Rifle (which was bought by Grandpa for my uncle to learn shooting) now I recognize it as a Diana. My grandfather passed away when I was 12. Grandmother gives away the Shotgun and some bullets of the lost rifle to her brother since my uncle was not interested in guns.
Then onwards the air gun was become a toy for me and my brother, and we used and abused it, about 5-6 years without knowing the true value, till my uncle came and taken that away from us. That day onwards I had a suppressed wish for buying a gun.
3-4 months back I went to my uncle’s place and found out my old friend (more than 40 Years old) behind a cupboard, totally rusted, stiff as an iron bar. Front site and rear site adjust knob were missing.
I left it there decided buy a new one, went to a shop asked for an air gun, they advised me to go for a 1500 Rs. UTA one. The coking and trigger was stiff like nothing I experienced before. When I asked they said it is because it’s new. I took it to home started to shoot.
Mean time I was interested to know more on air guns. Googled, thus reached at ‘Indians for Guns’ found tons of information, including abut IHP went to another shop asked for Airgun they started to show all stuff expect IHP, then I asked about ‘National’ they shown two pieces and told me, this will be only asked by known persons and they also admitted the margin they are getting v/s the waiting period after paying advance D/D makes them less interest in IHP sales.
I played 3300 Rs. for it. The moment I put my hands on it I stared to feel the difference. I gifted UTA to my Brother in Law. I am very happy with my IHP-35, My special thanks to Tenx for making my life easy by posting zeroing method for IHP. Rustom for the amount of details thought to me on gun care. Abhijeet for providing such beautiful and informative site for persons like me and also lots of legal information he provided. And tanks to numerous IFGns, who asked questions and provided answers for lots and lots of questions I might have asked.
Lot of things happened in last three months, I joined in a Rifle Club 45Km. away from home. Drive all Saturdays to there. Touched a .22LR for first time.
I’ve helped them to calibrate the target and ambient lights of 10m indoor ranges to 500 and 1500 lux.
Almost all of them are shooting there are very young (13 to 18 and I am 36 years) uses very expensive rifles given by parents and shoots well too. I do not wanted to invest that much money for that kind of PCP rifles. I never dare shoot at my club. Then I was doing regular practice at home with home made rage and my gun.
Now I have confidence in me, and decided to buy an Air pistol instead of a Rifle for shoot at club. I decided to go for IZH-46M, which I believe, will be quite OK and Value for Money. Checked with Tim at mac1airgun as per him the sole distributor for USA is now Pyramid Air so I placed the order with them waiting for the stock to come expected on 19-12-08.
I have collected some pellets too, Special thanks to Olly for 2 tins of H&N Match and 2 tins of H&N Final Match. 5 tins of H&N Diabolo from Al-Sayad, Dubai through one of my friend Special thanks goes to Shahid for the valuable info he provided on the forum.
Also in touch with Lloyd at B.A.R for a HW45 0.177 But sending air pistol from UK to India seems near impossible and so is my dream of owning a HW45. But did not lost the faith, still in touch with Lloyd.
My dream wish list also have .22 HW 80 or 1.77/.22 HW77K or 1.77/ .22 TX200. I like to have an open site for gun that is the only one reason going against TX200.
Another passion, which I hold very close to heart, is another form of shooting-Photography.
Since become a member of this community, I silently been here all most all day searching for the treasure all of you provided, One again thanking you all for bringing me back my lost passion.
With regards,
Biju Paul.
