A BIG Hello to all of you!

Post by ragunnaath » Wed Nov 05, 2008 10:49 pm

Hello All!

First of all, I'd like to thank all the folks who are behind this fantastic fourm. I cant explain how much of knowledge I've gained about various aspects right from applying for an arms license, owning a fire arm and the various technical aspects of a fire arm.

Well, my name is Ragu, and I work as an IT Ops Manager at a MNC in Chennai.

I've been very pationate about fire arms since my child hood and I've been a ace shooter during my NCC days several years back. As owner of a IHP Air Rifle that was gifted by my dad, off late I've been researching and trying to look for information on applying for an arms license and enroling myself as a member in the Chennai Rifle Club. Infact I did take that step of applying for one but got rejected due to change in my residential address.

During the process, I also learnt that owning a gun is only for the rich and famous (forgive me if I'm wrong in saying this). Though I know a couple of influential people right from Inspectors, ACPs, DCP in the police department I did not aproach any of them for suggestions, and I dont know if it would have or would make any difference in obtaining a license.

Well, its only then I stumbled upon IFG and boy I should tell you how impressed I am with the wealth of information that has been created in this site. Truly a great site created for aspiring gun owners like me. I'm honestly proud to be a member of this site.

I look forward to interact with all you lovely people out there and be of help in anyway I can.

Regards,
Ragu

Welcome Raghu, to IFG :)
Firstly, Abhijeet deserves all this (and more) applauds for his commencing this forum.
Next, I am glad that you have a good father that you have, who gifted you the IHP. You dont come across many such supermen who encourage their children...
Since I was also in NCC for quite some time, its good to hear (and share) the olded golden days .. :) .. Boy, do I miss my NCC camps...
.. and in India, I guess there is nothing wrong in saying that shooting is for the rich only, but we do have some small examples of good shooters who are not all that affluent. More than owning a gun, the knowledge of the stuff required is something that money cant buy.. so hope to have plenty more interaction and discussion with you... :)

Thank you all for the warm welcome extended! I'm already feeling at home! :)

Indian: Thank you for your wishes and yes, I plan to apply for a license again but after taking some expert advice from IFG. I will be posting my questions in the respective topic areas shortly.

Sankar: I live in Kilpauk. What about you? Are you from Chennai too?

Thank you Olly!! I am indeed planning to apply for the license again in future, but I'll be more prepared and contact the right people to get it done.
