Greetings

First of all - a great website. Some of the content and technical discussion I read are the best I have seen anywhere. Very knowledgeable folks, so I decided to join.

My intoroduction to guns was by dad when he bought me a BB gun for my seventh birthday. That was followed by numerous shooting camps in NCC both in Junior and Senior Div - State and Natl level. My school awarded me a life membership in one of the Rifle Assn in a major Indian city. However I could neither get a license (guess was too young then) nor afford more than 25 rounds of 22 ammo on my own.

My current resident country has been quite liberal. And fellow members have been very friendly. I got to experience almost every type of shooting possible, over the last decade and finally settled on my favorite - flintlock rifles and blackpowder muzzleloader shotguns of the bygone era. Its slow paced but has a culture and following of its own. Also becuase I can shoot a ball with a flintlock more accurately than a big bore centerfire rifle, and can break more birds with a muzzleloader than a custom fit perazzi. :-) I suppose its me, not the gun!!

My other hobbies are archery, fly fishing and golf.

Regards

Thanks a lot for the welcome messages. Greatly appreciated. I live in eastern Pennsylvania, within 5 mile radius of three shooting ranges . I am also a life member of KSRA (that was exactly 21 years ago when I was still in Cottons). Next time in India, I would love to go back and shoot. One of these days I will post some pictures. Nowadays I shoot muzzleloaders mostly, my list includes Mortimer Whitworth Flintlock, 1853 Enfield Musket ( isn't it the same rifle that started the First War of Independence?), Cabelas side-by-side classic 10 guage (this is most well balanced shotgun I have ever held), Colt 1851 Navy ball and cap, Marlin 1895GS (this is a breeh load), Les Baer AR (I used to shoot CMP a lot) and of course being a desi have to have a 375 H&H Heym for that future Dark continent trip (whenever that happens...until then dream and shoot that in the range) . Love to go bird hunting with my black lab, Shadow. For everything else its the bow. Nothing better than taking your quarry within 25 yards. This fall, I plan to go with a traditional recurve bow. This is a no bells and whistle stuff. Just plain instinctive shooting, but requires a lot of practice.

My biggest passion is fishing for steelheads in the pacific northwest of US (Oregon, Washington states...love to go to British Columbia but not enough $$ for us here now, also the exchange rate is killing us) with a double handed fly rod called Spey Casting. Which brings Mahseer in my list to do.

Thanks once again for the welcome messages and chat with you guys soon.
