Hello my fellow firearm enthusiasts,

Since I'm going through my new firearm license application process for the very first time, I wanted to share all my experiences as I walk this long & exhausting journey of getting an arms license in India while the chances of rejection always remains as high as 99%.

Well, I'm from West Bengal and currently working as a software engineer in Bangalore.
I have applied for my license with a state only & .30 Cal - 7.62x25mm permit and I'm waiting for police report which is taking sometime.
That's why I'm stressed out a bit and a few firearm owners are telling me that Edited:Please note IFG does not allow any posts that suggest breaking the law-Moderator the police report might not be released anytime soon cuz generally no officer would like to sign the NOC and bear the responsibility or even if it is released, it would 100% have some negative remarks in the character of applicant section in the police report!
I'm worried because till now all my records and documents are clean as water and I want the process to go as sooth as possible.


Any help shall be highly appreciated and I'll keep on updating further on what happens next.

In India files dont move of their own you have to go and push it on every stage. Go and talk to police officer who have your file.

Also, I think you don't have to write the specific bore, just mention NPB handgun, that way you can get either a .30, .32 or .45 etc.
Don't know if rules have changed currently, so please correct me if I am wrong.
