New Member - Hello to all.
A Big Hello to all Indians for Guns members.
I've just found this forum and thoroughly look forward to exchanging information and experiences on shooting with the group.
By way of an introduction, my name is James and I am currently based in Kolkata, having returned from collage in the UK some four years back. I've been involved in shooting for as long as I can remember, both rifle shooting and shotguns and both sporting and hunting (not in India I hasten to add).
I look forward to sharing my experiences and conversing on all topics with the members of the forum.
Be well.
James.

Hello James,
Welcome to IFG. I hope you have an enjoyable time here. Which are your favourite guns? Do you shoot a lot these days? With which weapons?
All the best.

Re: New Member - Hello to all.
My sincerest thanks to all of you for such a warm welcome to the forum. To answer some of your questions, I've done a fair amount of clay pigeon shooting, as well as a fair bit of hunting in England for birds and roebuck, red stags in Scotland, and a variety of plains game in Africa. I also fly fish extensively in the UK, Bahamas, Venezuela, New Zealand, Malaysia, and the Indian Ocean. Sadly, being in India rather limits any of these activities, though I've fished for mahseer on the Cauvery since the late 80's and had some good fishing in the Himalayan rivers that hold them. Not what it used to be though, too much poaching.
Thanks again to everyone, looking forward to contributing more to the forum.
JWD.

Re: New Member - Hello to all.
Ahh, the inevitable question!! For most birds, a 12 bore I find most effective. I still prefer side by sides as I leant to shoot with one, and shoot a pair of Churchills. I don;t have my own rifle for deer as they tend to be provided where I shoot in the UK, but for African game you can't really beat a .375 H&H, though I'd look to get a 416 Rigby if I were to going after dangerous game. If I won the lottery (or became a politician) I'd get a Westley Richards drop lock in .470. We can but dream!!!miroflex wrote:Hello James,
