I have been trying to intrduce myself but the messages some how do not go through. I tried sending a PM to Mack The Knife BAna Esq too. Must be something I am doing wrong.

I am in the Eat of India. Live for shooting and fishing. Seen quite a few of the members on this forum who are equally active on the Indian Angler.

I have never been into competetive shooting but alwas owned guns : First a .177 airgun then a .22 and then a .22 IOF rimfire. Last was a 12 Shotgun . I am in the prosses of getting a .32 pistol.

Most of my fishing is in my own pond. I do go to the rivers for angling too.

Regards,
Vikas

Hi Vikas,

I did receive the PM but it appears you haven't seen my reply. Either way, it's good to see that you managed to get the hang of things now.

Let's hear a little more about your fishing in the fishing section.

Welcome aboard.

Hi Sanjay,
Did read about a fishing trip of yours.
How big is a fish before one takes it home to eat and doesn't leave it back in the water ?

Any fresh water fish like Rohu or Katla ( Don't know english names for them ) found in the areas around Delhi where you fish ?

Shahid, we mostly fish for the sport not the meat. We do keep what is needed for the pot (at the camp) but other than that everything else is released.

BTW, the big one's are invariably (99%) returned - that is if one is not a meat collector.

But nothing illegal about it in India right ? If you catch a fish and wish to eat it you can take it home ?

Yup,you can.But we fish for sport ie Catch & Release only.

Around Delhi the good places to fish are anywhere bet 100 to 400 km.

Yes you can, though taking away even the smallest of Mahseers on certain stretches in South India can land you in big trouble.

I should also add that there are some water bodies that require an angling licence. If you are caught without one on such a stretch, it amounts to poaching.

I always thought that this was a protected fish all over and the rule is to release all of those caught.

Doesn't that apply to golden Mahseers of the North?
