First of all i would like to respectfully greet all IFG members and veterans. I am a newbie in the topic of guns in general and was awed when i came to know about IFG. I thought i was one of very few who thought the indian arms laws were draconian and oppressive in nature. I am really inspired by you all and have been following Mr. Abhijeet and other IFG veterans' efforts towards making the govt. change its hopelessly outdated and borderline offensive laws.
My name is Satyam Singh Tomar and I am from Dehradun. I have crossed the age of 21 only last october but have had the privilege to fire some weapons, including INSAS rifle 9(at army range), .32 IOF revolver and .315 IOF rifle. But I am otherwise a total noob

and can only hope that the veterans here can give me some knowledge about the wonderful invention that is the gun

. I would also like to state that I know the importance this group has in the indian gun scenario and of the hard work and sweat some of the members here have given. Because of this I promise i shall maintain the standard and sanctity of this club atleast from my part.
Thank You,
Satyam

Welcome to IFG TheTruth.
Quite a few army ranges in Doon. Which one do you go to? Is your dad in the army?

@prashantsingh: I fired the INSAS at a Kanpur army range sir, during my visits to my fufaji who was a colonel

. My dad is a true blue mariner as in he is a merchant navy captain, who is now a harbour master in Kuwait. That is where i got my schooling ( they have DPS over there). Expats are not allowed to own weapons there so my dad, who also is a gun enthusiast, had to sell his 12 bore and webley scott. I think many enthusiasts here of an older age will agree that, especially in north India, webleys are considered some sort of status symbol

. It originally belonged to my grandfather who was an IAS officer, one of the first batches in independent India. I was very little when my dad made me fire two rounds from it, but it was basically him holding me

. Its been pretty long now and I have returned to doon and am handling the construction business my dad started and working on expanding it.
