Hi Shankar where in oz are you from? Do you hunt?

Hello Shankar,

Pleasure to have you over. I'm a bit surprised that you still stick with the .30-06 caliber, with you being in a country where other, newer or smaller calibers are not a problem. Do share your inputs some time.

I too own an IOF rifle in .30-06. Do read all about it in the .30-06 thread.

Thank you Guys for the warm welcome. I am not a great hunter , Just love 3006. When I was growing up in India , my father owned a 3006 M1Grand. Latter he got rid of it due to modern arms licencing laws.

Welcome Shankar.

I'm surprised, Katana, at your statement. The .30-06 is still a very popular cartridge, at least in the US.
Come hunting season in N America, there is probably as much .30-06 sold as any other cartridge. .223 and .308 are the current favorites but many states do not allow .223 for deer size game.
It is a very versatile cartridge and with different bullet weights, you can take almost any N American game.

In England I used a .30-06 for Red Stag.
