Hi Everyone,

I am based in Patna and I must say this site has been very helpful to me in gaining knowledge.

I have a V C Schilling 1916 .311 bore rifle which belonged to my great grandfather. It takes 7.9 Mauser bullets of which I have a few.

What would be the market value of this gun? The owner of Capital Guns says he can get bullets for this gun. I got Amit's mobile number from this site so thanks again for posting it.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to IFG.

What does the markings on the rifle say about the calibre? It usually should be in metric as yours looks like a German/Austrian rifle. .711 measures to 7.92 which indicates that it is a 8X57. Could you please post a few photos of it?

Best-
Vikram

Thanks Vikram. Will post a few pictures. The gun has been used very sparingly.

welcome friend.the gun has to be sparingly used as you can't find catridges.this is an unusual calibre and catridges are difficult find.you should be happy if you find a buyer.

It seems this caliber is easily available in Europe. Maybe I should export it!

Can adapters be used to change the caliber ?

One gun dealer just told me that bullets for this rifle are available. In fact he says he will sell me around 10 bullets in a few days. He said they are being imported and the process takes a little time.

That is a nice rifle there,Peacefulguns. Is it possible for you to post a few more photographs, a few more close-up shots of the action, sights, markings, if any, etc? Thank you.

Hi Folks,

Amit of Capital Guns is quoting Rs475 for 226grain bullets for my rifle. I have a feeling that it's too excessive. Can some one advise please?
