A big warm hello to the members. Thanking you for allowing me to become a member of this coveted group.
I am at the moment in midst of filing an appeal against the order of the District Magistrate, Patna rejecting my application under the family heirloom policy for a license to own a W.J.Jeffery Double Barrel Gun belonging to my great grandfather who had a license for it in 1948, and was transfered to my grandfather and father subsequently.
The Ground of denial of the License was "No threat to security " even though i myself have been part of an order (as an advocate for a client) where Delhi High Court has outrightly rejected the same rejection ground. Irony !!
Nevertheless, have sought some information under RTI from the Ministry of Home, Internal Security Division -2. Not yet received the reply despite a month.
Will keep posting any such information which may be of help to many others as and when i come across them.

Warm welcome .. Great initiative to have taken up the matter . High time the "authorities" know they can't keep denying us our rights and treating citizens like subjects. Cheers ...

Welcome Mrinal Madhav. Sometimes I don't know myself to laugh, be ridiculed or frustrated to the people sitting in power to allot license and their super sense of understanding. Anyways good luck for your appeal.
