Hi people

Post by gogogubbins » Sun Sep 15, 2013 4:45 pm

I joined IFG many years ago but just realized that I had never introduced myself to the forum members.

I work for the government of India. Was earlier in the para military but now have a more sedate career, though still with the government. Presently I live France. I love the outdoors- shooting, angling, archery, hiking and hunting (where legal). I collect hunting knives, am bit of a Motörhead (cars) and also love my tobacco and alcohol. I like fine things so the car, scotch and cigars are chosen with care and we can talk about them later. But guns first..

I own a 357 magnum S&W revolver, a Savage 99 22 HP lever action rifle, a Diana 22 springer, a Benjamin marauder PCP and a Crossman .177 target pistol. The Savage and Diana are, however, not with me presently.(I have uploaded some pics and will do more as we go along).

I also have a geologic recurve bow and several tackles and fishing rods and hunting knives.

I know a good deal about the Savage 99, but am willing to learn more. I have just started using a PCP so I will be looking to help from the more experienced among you.

I have also started skeet shooting and will be sharing my experiences with you.

I started shooting when I was 10. The springer is an exacting taskmaster and if you hone your skills there, pretty much the rest of shooting will come easily. While in the force I used and was trained on a number of Prohibited bore small arms. I will try to contribute to the forum in the relevant discussions.

IFG is doing yeoman work for the cause of RKBA in India. Kudos for that. A myth has been spread that Indians are non-martial and do not have a culture of hunting. There is also the fallacious view that controlling legal arms will help law and order. But these are deeply ingrained in the mindset of people and we have a long and difficult road to showing the light to the dumb heads.

Any members in and around France? We must get together and share our interests, the first drinks are on me.

Cheers

Gogo.

Gogo, welcome, we are glad to have you here, and glad to hear that the RKBA message is being conveyed by the boards. As has been pointed out, there are several members in France who are active shooters.

Welcome to the family. I'm sure you will soon have a meetup with fellow IFGians there in France and if you are ever State side do let us know.

Hi gogogubbins,
You are a much older member so won't say welcome. Would love to see all your sharp knives and guns.
Cheers,
