Hi everyone,
This is Shurjo from Baton Rouge, LA. Been reading (and liking) the discussions on this forum for way too long not to join in, so here I am. Just got around to step one of legally owning a gun as a non-immigrant in the US (i.e, getting a hunting license), so next thing is to buy my first firearm (no more rentals...yay
). Anyone visiting the southern US, feel free to get in touch and we can go shoot some skeet/five-stand/handguns (Baton Rouge has three ranges, and they're real friendly).
Have a good day, y'all,
Shurjo

Hi el jefe, Sanjay, Abhijeet...
Thanks for the welcome, guys.
BTW, Abhijeet, I was thinking about posting the method for getting the US hunting permit and CCW, and the legal clauses in 18 USC (loopholes, from the Democratic viewpoint) that allow non-immigrant Indians to be legal gun owners in the US. I had to do a lot of research before I even realized it was possible, and maybe it'll be helpful to other Indian grad students like me in the US whose shooting experience in India was limited to NCC-modified .22LR SMLEs.

Welcome aboard Shurjo. I live in Michigan and am planning a trip for ever to New Orleans. A very good friend of mine from back home lives there. I shoot trap too and hunt sometimes. I wonder if you know about trapshooters.com. They're a bunch of nice guys on there from LA. One guy Mike built his own Titanium Cole trap gun. He goes by PerazziBigBore on trapshooters.com, check him out and maybe you can hook up with him and shoot his Titanium Cole.
Best of luck and welcome again.

Howdy HSharief, Conty1,
Nice knowing that more Indian-origin gun junkies like myself abound in these parts.
HSharief, definitely put NO on your itinerary sometime...even after the storm, it's a city full of life. BTW, they have a really good Indian restaurant (Shalimar), the lamb is authentic stuff. If a couch can double as a bed for you, I can save you the hotel room and we can drive down from Baton Rouge for a weekend.
Conty1, Corona's the stuff alright, my friend (lime wedge for you?). Thanks so very much for the offer. I'm looking at a postdoc job at the U of C, so it might work out later this year.

Absolutely... without a lime wedge, its like a gun without bullets
Let us know... looking forward to it and good luck!
