Hi There

Post by Godrej » Wed Jun 30, 2010 1:03 pm

Hello fellow weapon crazy shooters out there.

My name is Godrej and I am an International Close Protection Officer, working and operating in India.

My fav handgun has always been the Beretta FS92, but that quickly took second place ever since I started using the Glock 17. However there is a close tie with the Walthers P99.

The HK MP5 has always been my weapon for close quarter battle and SWAT operations. But the M4 is in another league. Sure, not for close quarter situations, but deadly never the less.

Looking forward in meeting like minded enthusiasts out here and hopefully getting an opportunity to discuss various shooting programs.

Lock and Load

Hi Inder, how are you?

Actually calling me a Bodyguard is like calling a cottage a castle :) In this case the Bodyguard being the cottage and the CPO the castle.

Close Protection is a format of highly personalized, close proximity protection built around a person with an assumed or confirmed threat to their life. This would ideally be from assault, assassination or kidnapping. He is trained in a variety of subjects and tactics ranging from reconnaissance, route planning, tactical sweeps of vulnerable areas, securing vehicles and venues, physically escorting a client and many more. Depending on the nature of an assignment a Close Protection Officer is trained to function as a vehicle operator, an armed escort, a counter explosive and surveillance operator as well as an undercover agent. He is also required to understand his ‘Principal’ and cater to their requirements keeping in mind their comfort, reputation and security at all times.

I have received my training and certification from Sweden and London and now operate in India. From this, I also did my tactical shooting in Prague with the Glock17, Hk MP5, Colt M4, AK47 and a few others. I also train and conduct SWAT programs in Bangalore.

I don't come from a police/armed forces background Inder. Its my passion and love for being a SECRET SERVICE agent, that brought me to where I am :)

Great meeting you here Inder. Do keep in touch.

Regards

Welcome to IFG, Godrej.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.
