hello Eljefe,
I mean the Scottish Army(part of MOD, UK but not the british army) - it was when I was doing my masters from Aberdeen (a small city but considered to be third largest in Scotland). They run a camp where university students can enroll and get training from army officers. They were very nice - they used to pay as if I am an employee!

Its mainly to spark an interest in students to opt army as a career option. You have correctly guessed the gun.
Nothing is all wrong - even a non functional clock shows the correct time twice a day !
