Re: Hi, Vikram introduces himself to you all...
Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.... Is that right??Before you ask any more questions, let me ask you one. What is the FIRST and MOST IMPORTANT rule with regard to shooting?

Actually it does.vkrmsngh";p="28280 wrote: Okay Mack The Knife, this didn't seem to fit somewhere else...
Almost all civilian ranges in India only offer the ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) shooting disciplines and we have a seperate section for this. If you want to find out what the ISSF disciplines are, have a look at www.issf-shooting.org
There are quite a few members from Delhi and they go by the name of Delhi Darlings. They usually meet up at a range in Saket (I think) and I'm sure they will be happy to add another tutu to their group.
A word of advice though.... if Dev drops a pellet, PLEASE do not bend over to pick it up.
Do you fish? If not, I have a feeling you will be taking up two new activities simultaneously. Have fun.

Yes siree! Safe gun handling is the first rule of shooting.vkrmsngh";p="28280 wrote:Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.... Is that right??
Always ensure that the muzzle is pointing in a safe direction.
Never point the gun at anyone or anything unless you plan on shooting it. If you must point it, make sure it is pointing in a safe direction.
Keep your finger off the trigger when not taking a shot.
Always check if a gun is loaded or unloaded when someone gives it to you or you give it to someone else. Ideally, it should be unloaded and the action should be open.
Never rely on a guns safety. Being a mechanical part, it could fail. Hence, point # 1.

Welcome aboard Vikram There is an (air-gun only) 10 meters range at the Shri Fort DDA Sports Complex. They rent out imported air-rifles/ pistols, and also sell pellets & targets. If you are ready and willing you could use those facilities to learn the basics with minimal expense...
Cheers!

Thanks for the tips Mack The Knife, I am spending some time at ISSF site now to see what it is...
Right Dev...no fears....
Yes eljefe, sure enjoy...
thanks for telling about the Sirifort complex Mundaire, that's nearer..
Okay, I got a question, I'm thinkin of getting myself enrolled for a '7 day air rifle beginner course' by Indianshooting/ Shimon and like you say I could use siri fort to 'learn the basics'.... Is sirifort also providing some sorta training course? or you were just telling me where I can go for practice/ shooting sessions?
Thanks for telling about atomic ponds Anupam...I still need to understand what it's about

Vikram,
If there is no shooting instruction available at Siri Fort, go for Shimon's course as it will teach you the right techniques.

It's where some of our more liberated members hang out. They even try their hand at fishing. Sometimes. Thanks for telling about atomic ponds Anupam...I still need to understand what it's about
