Hi everyone,
I am the ‘new kid on the block.’ I have been reading some great stuff on the web for some days about shooting. It has been my favorite subject. I have a friend who is equally passionate about it. It has been a subject of our discussion. After reading these pages I realized that how superficial was my knowledge about my favorite subject. Anyways, my story goes like this.
One day I decide to present myself with an air pistol. I search the net for the best Indian-made air pistol. IHP wins my heart. I go to Hassanand Hemendas & Co. They show me a .177 air pistol and tell me that it is the only pistol left and there is no .22 pistol with them and it will take some time for the new stock to arrive. After some hesitation I decide to buy it. The price was Rs. 3000 (too steep for the quality it represents. You can get better plinkers for far too less). I return home satisfied. Next day I place an empty mineral water bottle at a distance of 2.5 meters. I shoot 50 pellets and none of them is able to make a hole in the bottle. Next day I return to the dealer with the pistol and tell them the whole story. The man at the counter also tries to shoot the same bottle at the same distance and fail to make a dent. I then ask them to show me something more powerful. They show me a .22 IHP National 35. It feels good and I return home with it and a thousand pellets, at a price of Rs. 4900.
There is more but this it for now.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.
