hi everyone this is Aby here form mumbai and am into security and protection business back here in mumbai and i just came across this site while surfing the net and must say that its good to be a part of it...also i would like to get my query answered through this site of that being that i want to purchase a starter pistol and that is quite expensive in here in mumbai around the bracket of 65000 to 1,05,000/- so i would appreciate if someone could tell me how to procur it for a cheaper rate and also the formalities in regards to importing from foreign countries mainly Italy and Germany.
the brand that i am looking for is umarex or walther

Welcome aboard Aby. By starter pistol, I assume that you are talking about an airpistol. If that is the case, you can now import an airpistol in .177 through courier. It will definitely work out to be cheaper than what you have been quoted. Post the 2008 budget all duties and taxes have been lifted too. You can think about getting a .22 airpistol too provided someone agrees to carry it back for you. All the best and keep posting.

However if you are looking for an airpistol to get 'started' with you can have a look under the airgun section of the forum for information. My personal favorite on a budget would be a Baikal.
