Hi Folks!
I am from Bangalore. Just got my licence for pistol/revolver. Am trying to figure out which one to go for. Right now thinking of purchasing directly from ordinance factory as I guess other options are ruled out due to price factors.

. Would be glad if some of you can offer ur suggestions.
with warm regards

Welcome aboard.
I would say IOFB's .32 cal. revolver is the best of their bunch.

antismuggler, I have had their 32 ACP pistol for a few years now & it has been a nice enough experience.
Very few jammings, though cleaning & oiling would be more when compared to the revolver.
Enhanced bullet capacity & more fps/punch are a few other plus points for it.
The engravings & the markings, though, are much more pleasing on the 32 Long revolver.
Hope u find ur IFG experience pleasurable.

In light of Kshatriya's post I should clarify that the .32 revolver is the only one I have seen and shot. The rest I haven't even seen and my opinion was based on hearsay and not actual experience.
Best if you tried the pistol as well.

If you are new to guns - go for the revolver! Its safer and easier to handle for a newbie!

Cheers!

P.S. If buying IOFB stuff, allocate part of your budget to getting the gun refinished by a good gunsmith. You'll know what I mean when you get your hands on their stuff

In case u have "NPB Pistol/Revolver" endorsed on ur licence, u have an option to go in for a .22 Cal. revolver made by IOF too.Though, some other member would have to relate his experience with it, as I have not seen or used it.
Browse their website & if u have the chance try them before going in for a purchase.Even though I hear a lot of bad things about the stuff by IOF, my experience with it, so far, has been allright.

My suggestion is to go in for the IOF pistol.Have used both the revolver and the pistol.Neither are well made but the pistol is easier to set right than the revolver.
Take care,

penpusher, I am curious regarding what u exactly meant by that. What modifications would do it good ? All I have changed is the grip, to a target one with thumbswell.

Kshatriya,
There is a lot of variation in the weapons that you get from the IOF.You are lucky that yours is of acceptable quality. There is a fellow who had got a IOF pistol. After a couple of shots the barrel lock would work loose and the lock and spring would go flying out in the general direction of the target.
Take care,

Hi Buddies !
Thanks a lot for the warm welcome and suggestions. I saw that Abhijeet and Rustum has rooted for the Revolver and penpusher is suggesting the pistol. penpusher when you say the pistol is easier to set right and when Abhijeet says Revolver is easier to handle, I guess ur comment would be in terms of repair in case of problems and Abhijeet might be saying about how the gun handles when being fired. Again penpusher the experience that you narrated of a guy who had bought the pistol leaves me all the more confused. Kshatriya have you used the revolver by any chance?
with warm regards

Antismuggler,
Go over to the Handguns and Self Defence threads. There are ample discussions on the subjects that you are asking questions about. Those are the right forum for asking these queries too, if you don;t find answers in the posts that are already there.
Have fun and welcome to the IFG. This is a place where gun enthusiasts will always be welcome.
