Knife user from Bangalore

Post by quick_draw » Thu Jul 18, 2013 7:31 pm

Hello folks,

I have been a consumer of these forums for a while. Have been a user of outdoor knives for over a decade now. Never paid attention to them beyond their functional use until a few years back, when I started accumulating (yes, not collecting:) knives. I am an outdoors guy.

A knife for it's own requirement was never on my horizon. I used multiple multi-tools, mostly of inferior quality, many of which ended in some bin, likely (can't even remember where my first of those went... probably one of them saved that chap's life in 172 hours or what ever that movie is called.)

Then a Gerber Shorty which was affixed to my PFD, got me acquainted with the first knife for it's own purpose. I walked around with that knife on my PFD, as if I had entered a drawing room full of judging people. Anyways over the years, I have accumulated many more Gerbers, a Kabar Machete, Kershaw EDC folder, Mora Companion, Couple of multi-tools (including a Gerber and a Leatherman), and a miscellaneous array of tools and implements for outdoor and domestic work.

My interest is largely as a user, and accumulator, but once in a while, I get dragged into technicalities...

So that's me:)

Hi Quickdraw,
> Pl. post some pics of your blade collection.
> True - most of us began collecting blades & assorted tools for its functionality...
> But then we all wind up as afficianados over a period of time & start collecting :D
>Great going

Thanks all for all your welcome. As you can see, I am not a very diligent visitor or poster here. But I get spurts of enthusiasm and then I am back on IFG for blades related gyan and such.

hello quick draw
I am sure you will get lot of people who are interested in technicalities of gun / knifes and effective ways of getting the best out of them as aficionados. You will find all of them gentle men who restrain from even pointing their beloved arms at anything living / moving.
