Hello Every one!!

Post by jatindra Singh Deo » Sun Sep 09, 2012 9:44 pm

This is Jatindra singh Deo here from Orissa ,a software engineer by profession and a gun freak since I was 14 .Returning to shooting after 7 long years gawking at computers ;) .Guns have been a heritage in the family from generations and we owned a large posse till a big portion were sold off due to regulatory reasons and few due to lack of ammo.A 30 '06 ,dbbls ,a bruno ,375 were our cherished possessions (375 sold off due to unavaibiity of ammo around late 80's).Air rifles are my fad own a couple of diana 27's from the late 60's ,a ihp 35 97 model .Was'nt a tweaker or more of a technician but more of a pick and shoot kind but well ,learning a lot from the different forums I have been a member of since last year.Nothing like the smell of burnt chordite and the thwack of a rifle hit.Looking forward to owning a couple of pcp's although springers have a special place in my heart.Getting my Orissa Rifle association membership in a short while.

Well was a member since last 8 months but missed the intro due to simultaneous registrations in different forums.Well that pretty much sums it up.

Welcome back Jatindra. Your remark about the 'smell of burnt cordite' rings a sympathetic 'bell' in my mind too. You will be perhaps surprised to learn that I was born in Dhenkanal during WW II . Did meet a 'Singh Deo' at St Xavier's College, Calcutta, in the late 50's. Any relative ?. I have many happy hunting memories in Saranda forest, Mosaboni. Gua and Badampahar areas too. etc.. But sadly, due to my profession, have been a Mumbai wallah for the last 40 years. Best of luck with your new air rifle collection...

Apologies to have replied so late ..! Thanks Rakshit ,thats flattering ,but nothing of that sort ! @absinroy wow and I thought I was a different species here .I have been to saranda couple of times and grew up listening to the legends of the same .Actually I live very close to saranda i.e Rourkela to be exact and its around more or less 30 kms away .The Sambhars ,Tigers and the likes from saranda are folklore in our house .Grandpa and uncles were very avid hunters of the time .Fireside stories were pretty much saranda escaped s. Its still Asia's last remaining Sal forests where in patches even sunlight cannot reach the ground .Its a very beautifull place ,lately notorious for the Maoist menace ,though it has subsided a lot due to paramilitary forces relentless effort .Yes I might know the person you are referring to from the Seraikela && Kharsuan family ,as lot of them studied from Kolkata .
