Hello Friends

Post by thunderbird1 » Wed Aug 07, 2013 7:12 am

Hello to all.
I am Nagraj from Kerala. I am a mariner and so I may be absent for moths at time and then get resurrected again...
I have been using air pistols for a long time. Then for a change I shifted to air rifles and got hooked !! Hopefully I will stay so for a long time.. :P

Hello Nagarifle,
I started of with an Aimco Commander (0.177). This piece was not at all accurate and so I almost lost interest. Fortunately I had a chance to use a Diana 240 classic for some time. Suddenly I found I couldn't stop practising. Anyway its owner (my uncle) claimed it back once he came back from abroad. Recently I purchaced an AK 200(0.22). I went to purchase an IHP national 35 but somehow I got attracted to this one.
I use pellets made by Master shot (wad cutter) and G Smith (High Impact) on this gun.
I am yet to become a member of any rifle club but when ever my ship goes to US of A I get a good practise at almost all models in which ever gun shop I comes across at the expense of buying few boxes of pellets...

Hello All
1completed firing 200 each pellets of Master shot (Wad cutter), G Smith ( High Impact & Metal head types) and Diana shot.
The best grouping I received at 15m from Master shot (wad cutter) closely followed by G Smith(High Impact). Group of 3 consecutive shots within a diameter of 7mm is the best I achieved (standing ,without support).
I am yet to master firing using a rest for forward hand. Some how I couldn't get consistency yet..

To assess the relative transfer of energy I tried firing at a 100mm X 100mm plank ,10 mm thick suspended from a 1m long thread (was trying to imitate Charpy Test) . After each shot I measured the angle of swing. G Smith metal head came topper in this test. So this pellet must be having the best aerodynamic shape or else its weight and geometry should be suiting my gun best... Maximum penetration also achieved by this. But nothing can beat the wad cutter in the beauty of shot marks on target!!
