Hsherif,
It doesn't look like the .45/70 springfield trapdoor. I could be wrong but this seems like a custom made gun on old action.

The other one is a very old gun, don't know which one is that..I just know it shoots a very large caliber, 500 or something..

I'm pretty sure its a Springfield Trapdoor. Like Monty pointed out before, it shot a 45/70 mostly. The one in your picture could be a crazy custom. Just google some images for this and you'll see. Uberti makes replicas still.

It`s a Trapdoor Springfield but one of the Italian repros - probably a Pedersoli.

Hey,
I just got it. I think its a Sharps 45-70, the buffalo hunting rifle of the wild west. Those trap door kinda thingies stuck in my mind.

The Sharps is a rolling/falling block type receiver with the trigger guard used to load rounds into the chamber. The gun in the picture clearly has a trapdoor receiver. In the words of George Tenet "It's a slam dunk".

It is not at all a Sharps 1874. Two Italian companies make the Trapdoors - Pedersoli and Aldo Uberti. This one could have been made by either of them. It is not a very strong gun and if you're planning on buying it you would have to take care to shoot it very little, and with low powered loads.
Cheers!

Too true Mehul. I`ve seen pictures of blown-up Trapdoors - both original and reproduction. The design doesn`t inspire confidence as it is inherently weak.
I still think the pictured example is probably a Pedersoli -just from the style of the woodwork.

All right I got it wrong. Thanks for revealing the difference but the caliber is a 45/70?
I thought I saw a trigger guard but that's just my bad eye.

? The Trapdoor Springfield does have a trigger guard. What HSharief was describing is the opening mechanism of the Sharps which utilises the trigger guard to do so in a dual purpose role, rather than employing a separate opening lever such as falling blocks do.
The calibre IS probably .45/70 although other calibres were offered.

Is that a little like the old BSA Martini 50 m .22 target rifles? I mean operation wise. It was a very nice solid mechanism. Thank you for the infro.
