OK Guys here's a tv capture of a gun confisicated from some militants who intruded into Mizoram.. All I know about this handgun is that it is a .32 cal. (as announced by the tv newsreader)

It looked quite interesting and Heckler Koch'ish I was wondering if some of our inhouse experts could help me identify it.

It is a Chinese pistol. I’ll give you the details tomorrow.

It does look vaguely H&K ish ..... until you look closely at it and realise that the angle that the photograph is taken from and the lighting are creating an illusory effect. It actually looks nothing like a H&K. The style is more like pre-war German but in your part of the world the odds are that it is a Chinese copy of something East European.

Were the lace table cloth and automotive fuse confiscated at the same time as the pistol ?........................................................

The Makarov `family` ? A very small family....................
It`s not a Makarov.......more like a P-64 but with a different grip.

Great observation grumpy.. The rest of the confisicated items included timers mobile phones, primers, Gelatin Dynamite etc.. (Excluding the lace tablecloth which is a part of the furnishings of the DGP's office)

We had a similar seized one here some time back.

Its Chinese no doubt.

Forgot the model...I'd got a local Chinese restaurateur friend translate the markings for me... it think it was a Norinco Model77 (Not 77B) or something...

77B is a bigger cousin and a totally different design(Though it retains the trigger guard cocker)

Its an unusual piece. The front strap of the trigger guard is a sliding piece with a ratchet/pawl mechanism that cocks the slide. The idea is you use your trigger finger to cock the slide, slightly release then squeeze again to fire. Something of a cumbersome way of getting a DA! After that you simply shift your finger to the trigger and fire off like a normal pistol.

Found that the slide is a clone of the Sauer M38H.

The frame was a hopeless finger cramping tiny thing. Left the last two fingers nothing to do other than roost under the magazine baseplate.

Bore is not .32ACP, it's a Chinese 7.65x17 or 7.62x17 (Developed for their silencerised pistols)

Since the bore was a non starter, it remains in the malkhana.

this loading feature is called Chylevsky device, made in the form of a separate front vertical part of the trigger guard. this device was originally developed by the Swiss designer Chylevsky in the first decade of the previous century, which is used to load and cock the weapon by using only one hand.
other than type 64 cartridge, i have seen it in 32 acp but that might be a local gunsmith genius as barrel was not hard chromed and as far as i have seen all Norc guns do had hard chromed barrels.
regards

Hi Mashh,

Thanks for the input.

The 32. mod might have ended up being a single shot. As I found it was next to impossible to insert 32ACP shots in the magazine.... again unless the local g-smith did a hack job on the frame/magazine as well...which would end up being fairly pointless... :)

Regards,
cc
