Dog:

Now I know why I keep a dog!! Must be the latent "God Complex"!! I have a D-O-G, he has a G-O-D, the relationship and the letters are mirrored!!!

Jack London in "White Fang" also refers to the eponymous wolf-dog thinking of men as gods.
