With the 2012 Olympics coming to an end soon....and with all the flag hoisting ceremonies at the end of every event.

I found these flags of special interest.
How many of us can identify these three ?
Obviously with the Union Jack in the corner they have something to do with the host country.

seem to be islands under British jurisdiction, given the fact that cayman islands also took part in the olympics.Must be other small island nations.

I just checked it out,I must say I am surprised.Surprised by the fact that in all the years we learnt or atleast I learnt history in school I never saw those flags once.Shows that sometimes there are things the government does want us to learn and there are some ideas that they want to instill through education.

anyway really good find.

The part of our history we do not enjoy.
see " Heaven's Light Our Guide " written in center of star search by it, you will get answer.
check this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_of_India_%28flag%29

Another strange thing is the BCCI still hold this star as symbol but inside letters are changed .

Looks like most of you have figured it out.

INDIA.

To be more specific.
1. East India Company 1801
2.Imperial India 1858
and
3.British Raj 1880

Infact the third flag (Raj) was the one which was actually used for the games (pre Independence) where India won Gold in Field Hockey.

1928 Amsterdam India beat Netherlands 3-0.
1932 Los Angeles India beat USA 24-1.
1936 Berlin India beat Germany 8-1.

The undisputed Hero of those games.
The legendary DhyanChand.

Wonder what the national anthem was those days.

'God save the King', in some parts of India it was called the 'salaami' or salute.

Exactly what I thought when I saw those flags.

Just a thought Katana.
The way things are going in the country today. Don't you think they could have simply changed the anthem to "God save India". :D
